Quiet Loud: (A Playful Sounds Concept Book of Opposites for Babies and Toddlers) (Leslie Patricelli Board Books)

Leslie Patricelli's books are my Grandson's favorite. He will pick them off the shelf every time! The words are simple for toddlers and can be read with a lot of expression. The pictures are cute and full of color.

I ordered my first Patricelli board book 14 years ago for my first granddaughter. I soon ordered many others. The illustrations are delightful, the text is minimal but repeated to help build vocabulary, the toddler humor is spot-on, and each book ends with a collage that reinforces the topic. These books are a favorite with all my g-kids, and I now get a set to give each time I need a baby-shower gift. They are always a hit with parents who have to read them over and over again, and new readers/ listeners who readily relate to the topics.

One year old grandson looooves this… I guess it’s because he’s a “loudmouth” 😅😂

Whenever it's just me and my three young boys of 1, 3, and 4 years alone in the house, I pull up the Kindle edition of this book on the big screen TV and we scream our lungs out and have a blast. I love this book and it absolutely delights our children to actually be allowed to yell in the house. See, there is a time even for yelling in the house. As always, the simple, vivid coloring scheme is outstanding. Just a few words per page with big, vivid illustrations keep the children's attention well. Patricelli is a master of the children's book. Please keep more coming and make them all available digitally.

Easily explained about loud and quiet, simple images and easy for toddlers to grasp the idea

This is the first Patricelli book I have purchased and I have been really enjoying it thus far. It was a first birthday gift for my baby girl. The illustrations are stunning, the colors leap off the page. The comparisons are fun and creative. Unfortunately, I seem to enjoy it more than the baby. Perhaps in a few months she will appreciate my sound effects and enthusiasm for this book, but at the moment she's more enthralled with sensory books and tabs that open. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase and would consider more by the author.

I'm a gregarious aunt. LOVE all the books of this series, but this one is just plain fun to read and 'do'. It has a nice range of sounds that it introduces like the whisper-swoosh expression of slippers and the big siren sounds like a firetruck. When you read, you can modulate your voice and provide the sounds of each word given. You can get very soft and kids will imitate soft, and then, LOUD...the wee-oh, wee-oh of a fire truck...this is where the kids love to imitate and use their energy. You can mimic the motions too. It's a fun way to get a child involved and help them differentiate sounds...AND you can hope it will carry over to the times when you say, "shhhh honey, we have to be quiet now"...Enjoy!

I bought this book for my "expressive" 14 month old daughter. She has had a little screaming problem these days and I wanted to introduce the concept of quiet and loud to her so she would understand me more when I say "Sweetie, that screaming is too loud. It hurts Mommy's ears." She seemed to pick up on the concept really quickly after reading this a few times. We make a point to read "quietly" and "loudly" the different parts which has helped I am sure. The illustrations are so cute! This is a current favorite in our family.

Good book

Sono una maestra della scuola dell’infanzia. Certo il target è più da Nido, ma essendo in inglese, bisogna semplificare spesso i concetti per le ipotesi di comprensione. I miei bambini lo hanno molto gradito.

This book introduces the concept of opposite to baby(mainly for toddlers). My 7 month old is yet to understand this book. But I loved reading it to him. The size is just right. Page colours are great and the character is cute. Planning to buy other books from same author once he turns 1.
