Perfect little metal plane
This airplane and its many variations was likely the most helpful aircraft of the war. With a range of 2504 miles and a speed of 195 mph it would remain in the air more than a day. Wa t to go for a ride? Maybe not...but my oh my, could this aircraft search abd rescue...indeed it could bomb also...subs beware.A wonderful aircraft well worth the memories and the honor to be reminded of it.

PBY-5A flying boat
Got this for Christmas and just got around to finishing it. Decided to go with a more standard look for this ww2 navy plane. Did mine wheels up and wing float tips down. Wanted a more midway, early war look. It is over 11 inches from nose to tail and 16 inches wing span with floats down. Only real cons are thin decals that I found hard to apply and instructions could be better.

Catalina Black Cat
Bought this for my brother. He assembled and painted it . Our dad flew this type of plane in WW 2. It was just what my brother was looking for.

Good product but you need excellent eye sight.
Be sure you have excellent eye sight. The parts are REALLY SMALL and the instructions are worse. Other than that, if you have the patience and a magnifing glass it is a nice product.

Very nice kit
Very nice kit - as always with Tamiya. Parts are all black plastic - fit well together with minimal flash trimming required. Looks nice after assembly with a clearcoat spray finish.

Build instructions leave something to be desired
The fit and form of the model is pretty good. My main issue is with the instructions that come with the model. I would not recommend this to a beginner modeler.1. There are no instructions or included parts to build the the model wheels up(upper gear door is included, but nothing to support the wheels), so be prepared to get creative.2. The decal placement illustration shows the decals out of scale and will have you place them in the wrong position. More specifically the star insignia on the left and right side of the nose. Use the box pictures to get a more accurate location.I have built other Academy models before, but this one will make me more hesitant to buy more. I will upload pictures after I finish the detail work.
