Is this product legit? Why is there no back label or serving size?

There is a back label as well as recommended dosage and limits. This product is third-party tested to ensure quality standards. This product is pure L-Carnosine so a measuring device will be needed to measure the appropriate dosage for each person. The previous post is correct in that there is no neutralization or additives so the ingredient remains pure. Some distributors add a starch to help with the flavor, or a bicarbonate to neutralize the pH. These are acceptable, but they dilute the product.

Question 2

How many servings are in a four ounce package? It's odd that the packaging doesn't specify this.

First thing is to know the weight of the powder for one serving and this is around 500 mg or one-eight teaspoon. The next thing is to convert 4 ounce to mg....4x28.5gmx1000 = 114,000 mg, then divide this by 500 and the answer is 228 servings! It is actually quite vague to use one-eight spoon to determine the exact quantity but this just an approximation as the amount will depend on how high is the heap of one-eighth teaspoon when a heap is being scooped up. The best way is to weigh a 500 mg amount on a digital scale and then transfer this to the spoon whereupon it can be immediately gauged how high a heap on the teaspoon in its centre or at the curved end part of a teaspoon. Usually, the manufacturer supplies a spoon of cylindrical shape inside together with the powder that gives the serving quantity of 500 mg or whatever amount in weight they recommend. For L carnosine, it is not critical to have exactly 500 mg. In my own experience  my one serving can vary from 300 to 700 mg depending how I scoop-up with a teaspoon.

Is this n-acetyl L-carnosine? If not, what's the difference? Thanks.

This is L Carnosine. The Acetyl form is supposed to make the Carnosine more bioavailable after surviving the acids in the intestine tract. But the Carnosine percentage eventually ended in our bloodstream is not much different between the Acetyl form or the L Carnosine. That said, the Acetyl form of Carnosine is used primarily for treatment of cataracts by topical application. It is also much more expensive than L-Carnosine. The L-Carnosine of this brand is of genuine quality that I am now using-fluffy light and bitter sweet in taste. Unlike L-Carnitine which is also a di-peptide amino acid like L-Carnosine, it seems that Acetyl-L-Carnitine has more distinctive benefits than the L-Carnitine. The former is more beneficial to the brain. But as I say above, so far, Acetyl-L-Carnosine is for ocular application only. I have to-date never seen Acetyl-L-Carnosine used as an oral supplement.
