Is there a light inside?

Dear, there is a sensor light inside of the safe. It would last for 20 seconds for your each opening. Perfect for your night use.

Does the locking mechanism use a nickel solenoid? I have read that someone could use a neodymium magnet to open certain safes.

Dear customer, it uses the solenoid, but the technical has been improved in recent years. It can not be open by the neodymium magnet.
