Are the pieces made of hard plastic or soft material?

They are made of a harder plastic but a few of the pieces almost have a softer exterior feel to them. Hard to describe. I read where others have said that they wish that the plastic was not as hard, but that’s not my experience. For them to fit through the elastic slats, they need to be solid.

Anyone know if this is made in China?

Yes, it is. It’s BPA-free though and Fat Brain Toys has high quality standards; I have bought countless toys from them over the years for nieces and nephews with no safety issues (and most have been durable enough to be passed on to another child).

If there is only one of each color and size how are the children sorting?

They can take the shapes out of the cube and sort them out individually to observe the differences in shapes and colors. It doesn’t have to be a pairing or grouping process to sort out the pieces. Example Sorting out a problem (to give clarity). One way to look at it is for example, let’s say John, Jim, and Joe all live in the same house. One of them grabbed the mail out of the mailbox and sorted out the mail on the kitchen table. Let’s say each of them only had one piece of mail: one has a letter, one has a small package and one has a coupon magazine. Although each piece of mail has a distinct different characteristics the mail has still been sorted out on the kitchen table based off of who’s mail each piece belongs to.

Nice but age bound

While they are nice, colorful, and engaging, I got them for my almost one year old baby. He would enjoy them the first couple of minutes and then lose interest. He was already able to put himself to stand by the time I got them so I did not see much benefit in that front.

Yo trabajo con niños y les encanta, por su color, sus sonidos y rugosidades. Es un super juego para trabajar en el espejo. Me parece una compra estupenda, solo que han subido el precio y no entiendo por qué, hace pocos meses los compré por 18 euros y la relación calidad-precio me parecía bien.
