Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

First and most importantly, the reported issues with the endings cutting off the last few episodes has been sorted, so you can all rest assured that you can enjoy your anime safe in the knowledge taht it won't cut out on you. The show itself was made by the same people as gurren lagann, and came up with it in the pub one night for a laugh. The end result is a beautiful blending of animation, humour, music and ridiculous action sequences. The characters are all VERY different, makin for great viewing, the voice acting is perfect, and you'll find yourself loving the characters in this anime before the first episode is even over. The show's plot, while originally non existant becomes more and more important, and actually holds together well, making for a genuinely exciting last few episodes, whic I was not expecting at all. Basically, this is the Marmite of anime, you'll love it, or you'll hate it. If you love foul language and bodily fluids, then this is the anime for you!

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt has got to be my favourite anime. The show is about two angels who got kicked out of heaven for bad behaviour. The only way to return is to collect Heaven coins, which can only be accumulated by killing Ghosts. It's an hilarious, vulgar, bizarre and overall enjoyable show. It has a great stylized look mimicking American cartoons, which makes the show more enjoyable with the mixed styles. The mix of styles make for a fresh and unique anime. The humor is very vulgar, similar to the humor of Drawn Together, which was an influence for the show. The show also has one of the best soundtracks I have heard, which consist of Electronic and Dance songs. I was excited to hear a English DVD realise of this show for the UK. The DVD features two languages, a English Dub which from looking at previews, looks to be done really well and the original Japanese Dub. I think most fans are going to prefer the Japanese as opposed to the English as it features some great voices that stand out. The Japanese Dub will have some English speaking parts which make it even more hilarious. The DVD doesn't seem to include anything new feature apart from Outtakes. The special disc includes a collection of the 'Ghost' explosions (which is a re-occurring feature in the show) the OVA's (Mini-shorts) and textless opening and closing songs. I'd recommend this show to fans who like 'adult' cartoons such as Drawn Together or South Park who like rude and ridiculous jokes.

This anime is absolutely amazing, and don't listen to the reviews that suggest it shouldn't be bought because it's missing the last seconds of the final episodes are missing: this issue has been since fixed by GAINAX, and all defective copies have been retired from the market. If you purchase it, it will be the fixed version for sure. As for the anime, it's the best series I've ever seen. The characters are fantastic and the dirty humor is used well, it never becomes excessive. I love Panty & Stocking, and being able to see their adventures in high quality isn't a chance that anyone should miss. Buy it, watch it, and you won't regret it!

Arrived on time and intact. This is quite a difficult show to describe. So I'll just a say, as others have said before me, if you like South Park you may well like this show. At its best its laugh out loud funny in a crudely rudely slapstick way.

The content: This is one of the best animes I've seen, it's genuinely funny and I can't believe it has taken me this long to discover it. Don't be put of by the name, it's not THAT kind of anime. The product: DVD worked as expected, seems to be new and genuine. Excellent, timely delivery.

Words can barely describe the madness going on here. Fallen angels using their lingerie as gun and swords to fight evil ghosts is crazy enough and that's just the outline. It's filled with raunchy over-the-top humor, tons of references (like Ace Attorney and Ren and Stimpy, and that's only one episode) and some unexpectedly well made action scenes. Though it's an anime, it's kind of parodying western animation. The animation is good, the original voice acting well made and every character has his own, very distinctive voice, so from a technical standpoint, there's nothing to complain. Though it's only recommended for people who don't mind the raunchy humor and a good dose of randomness. Word's can only tell so much and the only way to really make sure Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is for you is to just watch it. It's definately something else.

Love the show and am writing this brief review assuming people have either seen the Japanese version or at least know of it. In terms of the English adaptation, it's pretty much perfect (as a personal note it took me a long time to warm to Stocking's new squeakyer voice and the daemon twins didn't roll the R on RRRRRULES! but were otherwise brilliant). All the music in intact and it looks beautiful etc etc. Basically a good adaptation. HOWEVER! My warning to anyone looking to buy this is that the last few episodes (the whole of disk 3, maybe a couple of episodes before that, I can't remember to be honest) have the last few seconds of the episodes abruptly cut off. This results in them missing the ending credits entirely and generally the last couple of sentences of dialogue (often the episodes punchline etc) and the final episode is missing the "true ending" after the credits which...well that's pretty lame. So, for the most part this was what the fans were waiting for, sadly it missed perfection due to technical issues that really should have been caught before release.

I bought my copy from Speedyhen and it came very quickly. I was worried about ordering this particular DVD as previous copies have been faulty. But good news to everyone who wants to buy this product. This is the new version that isn't faulty and works perfectly. It is also a fantastic series. :D
