Anyone used this for guitar necks? How many coats would 3 ounces get me? Thanks!

I did 10 coats on an entire Les Paul, body and neck, with 3 ounces. To get the best effect use very thin coats and let dry for at least 8 hours between coats. This helps the wood grain really stand out.

What is the point of sanding between applications?

The point of sanding between coats of Tru-Oil is to remove imperfections such as runs, tiny bubbles, etc. If there are runs, I use 400 grit sandpaper. Otherwise I use 0000 steel wool.

How dark would this turn unfinished maple?

An old trick, moisten your finger tip and touch the wood. Then imagine more depth and richer color. Maple will not turn dark. Try the the wet finger you'll see the color. Mineral oil will give gloss no color enrichment. Watco oil will give color but no gloss So you need to ask yourself what kind of finish are you looking for? Lastly grab a piece of maple and experiment. If you playing with a cutting board then it's block oil or mineral oil.

Is this considered food safe for use on kitchen knife scales?

Tru Oil isn't considered food safe, although I fall to see how it would come into contact with the food being prepared. If this is a major concern then I would use stablized wood or a resin based handle material

Perfecto para guitarras

Realmente es fácil de aplicar y se obtiene un buen acabado. En mi caso lo utilice para repintar el cuello de una guitarra eléctrica y me ha gustado mucho como quedo. Por otra parte es bastante rendidor.

人気なのが分かります。匂いもキツくないし光沢有り無しが選べて使い勝手が良い。艶出しなら仕上げは薄め液で希釈してから薄塗りがおすすめです。蓋は独特なので壊さないように気をつけて下さい。中蓋も爪楊枝で穴を開けるだけにしないと揮発が早いので注意。海外の人によるとしっかり空気を抜いて冷蔵庫などで保存すれば長持ちするみたいです。パラフィルムやラボピタなどを1cm角に切って、空気を抜いてから、空けた穴にぺったりと吸いつくよう張り付かせて密閉し、蓋をすると揮発しにくく良いかと思います。

Great for guitar necks, headstocks and bodies.

I love working with this over a stained guitar. Gets a great finish and is easy to apply. The finish lasts a nice long time. The bottle I got originally has gotten me three necks and at least five headstocks. New bottle is three coats in on a body and still lots left. My first bottle lasted years, this one may do a couple of jobs and disappear. I won’t hesitate to buy it again, great stuff and a good price. Before application and after 3 coats pics attached.
