Got this for my third grader. She loved the silly little poems. It inspired her to write some of her own.

My grandson enjoys the poetry in this book which is used in his home schooling. We bought it for his personal use even though it was provided by his school.

My 5 year old daughter reads this poetry book over and over, and although the poems were simple and appealing, many of them used literary devices such as similes, metaphors, and personification that I was able to introduce to her.

i bought the book to replace a library book. the library would not accept it because it was a library book, even though it was discarded. but other wise it was great.

We read this book of short, rhyming poems (about all kinds of everyday topics: Animals, vehicles, snow, etc.) to my 4 year old daughter in one sitting. She loves it, and she has memorized one of the sillier poems. It has become one of my favorite children's books as well.If you're a parent, teacher, grandparent, babysitter, etc, you probably want to read to your child books that you'll also enjoy. Lee Bennett Hopkins has most certainly done that for you.

I bought this little collection of poems for next year when my oldest son will be in Grade 2. The poems are so simple and sweet, some funny and all with really cute illustrations. A great way to introduce poetry to young children!

An unassuming collection of easy to read poetry for early readers. Simple, short, rhyming poems sorted into sections such as pets, vehicles, weather, etc. A variety of mostly known poets such as X.J. Kennedy, Aileen Fisher, Carl Sandburg and Dorothy Aldis are collected. The book doesn't have a table of contents but makes up for that with an index of authors and titles. I found the illustrations to be lacklustre but otherwise a decent book of poems that suffices as an easy reader.
