LEUCHTTURM1917 - The Official Bullet Journal Edition 2, Black, Dotted

I had been working with other miscellaneous "dot" journals to start my Bullet Journaling. And they worked, but they didn't work like this journal, custom-made for all your Bullet Journaling needs. First off, the "dot" journal spine broke away from the pages as I reached the end of the book. I haven't gotten that far yet in my new Bullet Journal, but it's very sturdy. The BuJo came with not one, but THREE placemarking ribbons built into it. You'd better believe I'm using every one right now. It makes it so handy. The BuJo pages are pre-numbered, so, yay! The first pages of the BuJo are set up with: -The Key (symbols you will be using) - Intentions (good to start off with, even if they evolve. And if they do, there is a whole page to show it.) -The Index (4 pages, plenty of room to fill it in, as you go.) -The Future Log (4 pages, again.) And then, you get into the pages for your daily journal and collections and whatever else you want to pop into there. And each of these pages has markings, dividing the pages vertically into thirds (three dots at the bottom) and halves (two dots at the bottom). The pages have markings dividing them horizontally into thirds and halves at the margin sides of the pages. This is really handy for making charts or formatting your page otherwise. This journal also comes with a little "Get Started" booklet tucked into a pocket on the inside of the back cover. The page quality is really nice and fairly thick. Great for most pens, with no bleed-through to the other side. It's helped me tidy up my life, since I keep all my notes in it. I used to scribble down my notes on odd pieces of paper and have them stacked on my desk and other random places. Now I've committed to keeping them in my BuJo and it's become my Command Central.

This is my first time using a bullet-style journal. I love the sturdiness of the cover. The bright yellow color is vibrant and uplifting. I decorated the outside of it with inspiration stickers. The pages feel nice and don’t bleed through. I appreciate the thorough instructions and suggestions included with the journal on how to use it. It comes with some stickers and a nice little pocket in the back to store them. The numbered pages and index add an opportunity for organization. There is a QR code included in the instruction booklet that links to a video further explaining the Bullet Journal style of journaling. I love this journal and will buy another when this one is full.

I've been using one of these Bullet Journals for over a year now. I got it after I suspected I had ADHD to help keep my thoughts/to do/work/home life, whatever I wanted in check. I've tried regular planners in the past, however the day I miss one page, I'm over it. I'm a perfectionist, and those empty pages made me feel as if I failed. I also tend to get too complicated when trying to separate my work life from home life (one journal for home, one for work, one for this and one for that). This journal has been a life saver. It's super simple, yet has so much potential. Whatever you want to use it for, this can do it. The indexing system is brilliant, it means no more blank pages for me. And I don't need one for work and one for home. I use one index page for work stuff, and one index page for home stuff, no separation when it comes to pages. One page may be personal stuff, and the next could be work. The index helps keep them sorted. The dots on the pages mean you can use it as a regular journal, draw out a table, use half the page, a section, the whole thing, whatever you can think of. I know some people go crazy with doodling and stickers and mapping it out. I prefer the basic, clean, but structured route. I've used this for everything from to-do lists, project tasks at work, throwing random ideas in my head to paper, as a location to dump my thoughts, meeting notes, and so much more. I've loved it so much, that I've convinced a few coworkers to get one themselves. Working on another one right now :) I did find some additional things that helped me in using this. The first thing I did was get a dedicated "good" pen to go along with the journal. My preference has been the Parker Jotter with medium ballpoint ink (any color). I then got a pen holder that I stuck to the back cover which sticks out the right side of the journal. This way I always had that pen on hand when I needed it, and didn't have to hunt one down. It also helps me keep track of my pen and not leave it behind, which is especially useful since the pen is a bit on the spendier side. I also recently started using cheap 5"x8" Amazon Basics notepads as an in-between location before something gets put into the journal. I found myself sometimes thinking quicker than I could write, so I was having to correct myself after the fact. It was making more of a mess of my pages than I liked. This way I can throw it on the notepad, not worry about errors or writing it all out, and transfer it later. This has helped tremendously when I'm in work meetings. Write down the basics of an idea, just enough to remember the gist of it, and flesh it out later when transposing it into the journal. This way I'm not holding up anyone else, and I can get my mind back to listening and talking rather than worrying about what I'm writing. The final (most recent) thing that I've gotten for this journal is its own case/cover. Being I now had some additional accessories for this journal, I needed something low profile to keep them all in place. This case has a slot to slide the back cover into, so the journal stays in place and doesn't move around. It also has room for the pen and a couple of notepads so they are always with the journal when needed. It zips shut so I don't have to worry about anything falling out. This case did, however, make the pen holder on the back cover obsolete since it was now in a slot. But there are multiple places you can insert the pen within the case. I just leave it alongside the binder of the journal and zip it closed. Well, that's about all I have for now on this. This is by far the longest review I have ever written. It has by far had the most impact on my life out of anything I have purchased in the last few years, so I've a lot to say on it. And learned a lot of tricks along the way. If you made it through the whole thing, you deserve props :)

I must say, it is one of the best bullet journals I have ever used! The design is minimalistic, and the paper quality is outstanding - 160gsm. The journal has a table of contents, numbered pages, and dot grid paper that makes it incredibly easy to create a customized layout that works for my needs. The paper quality is thick and smooth, which makes writing in it a breeze, without any bleeding or ghosting. The added bonus of the official bullet journal guide in the front of the journal is fantastic for beginners, with clear explanations and examples of how to use the bullet journal system effectively. It's also helpful for more experienced users to have a refresher on the system. The size is perfect to take it on the go. Overall, I highly recommend this journal 2 to anyone looking for a quality journal that can be customized to fit their unique needs.

Fantastic. Second year using this journal. I use Tombow, Zig, Micron, and Faber Castell PITT markers and don’t have any problems. I’m not heavy handed and do not watercolor. I use washi tape sometimes and stickers. No problems. I don’t like a pen holder so I like that there isn’t one attached. I have the black one and it gets thrown into all kinds of bags. Handles a beating. Also classic for any meeting. I don’t think I can go without 3 book markers. One is a bit more ragged in the middle because it got snagged on a thick sticker. Great binding. I don’t really use the stickers provided and wish they’d go away from gold highlights and try colors some time. I also dont really use the elastic until the end of the year because it stays closed. Tried and true. I over analyze every year because of the price point, but for me it’s exactly right.

I love this bullet journal. I've tried many different bullet journals in my lifetime and the Leuchtturm1917 is my favorite brand. If you like the aesthetic of Moleskin, Leuchtturm1917 has the same vibe but their books are much more practical because their pages aren't as thin as bible paper. I've purchased quite a few of their bullet journals but this was my first time purchasing the 'Official Bullet Journal' and I love it. The paper is thick so your ink doesn't seep through the page. I love the features like the index, future log, numbered pages and the little pocket in the back to hold things. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about it is the price. I get that it is a good quality book, but I just think $30 is a bit much for a small book, and the 'less popular' colors are not as expensive sooo. Anyway I am at that point of the year where I need to purchase a new bullet journal for the coming year and I really want to repurchase this one but I don't know if its really worth spending that much when I can get the exact same book with lightly less quality for 1/3 of the price. I found a 2 pack of bullet journals with all the same features, thick numbered pages, future log, index and the pocket in the back for like $10-$15. Beautiful book, love the color and the texture of the pages and the leather hard cover. Love everything there is to love about the book, except the price.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I've tried using other notebooks for my Bullet Journal but this one is designed by the creator of the BuJo method and so there's not going to be much else that's going to work as well. Writing ability: It took a minute to find the inks that work best with this paper. I prefer something a little toothier, and many inks will sit on the surface of this so long that they smear or leave imprints on the facing pages. I have found that liquid gel works best. Notebook quality: It's Leuchtturm. What can I say? It's going to be quality. That said, the last page is inevitably stuck to the flyleaf for about 1/4" in, and sometimes (occasionally, maybe even rarely) a book looks like it wants to separate towards the end--but it never does. It looks bad for a minute, but this stuff is stitched to stay, so no worries. Gift value: It's a great gift if you know someone who is scattered (the system was developed by Ryder Carroll almost by accident, as a kid, to deal with his ADHD) and open to trying something new. That last bit is key: Don't spend the money if they're just gonna throw it in a drawer. Buy one for yourself instead! I have been through every organizing system known to man, from At-A-Glance calendars provided by employers back in the '80s (yes, the '80s) to Day-Runners, Day-Timer, Fil-o-Fax, BestSelf, Franklin/Covey--you name it, I've tried it. BuJo is the first that has truly served as the everything-in-one-place notebook that as a clinical psychologist I've been recommending for students since I was in grad school. It's not about the notebook, but about the system. That said, I've tried a lot of notebooks, hoping to save money, but keep coming back to this one. I have literally yards of shelf space devoted to my old notebooks, so I know whereof I speak. If you're up for trying a new system, or want to turn a buddy or a kid on to bullet journaling, this is THE best notebook for the purpose.

Where have you been?!!! I absolutely love the wine color! This particular A5 journal color is not available in the stores and limited online. I'm currently using the pink A5 (no longer sold) for this year as a daily journal. The detail contained within the journal is unmatched. i.e. the discreet notches on each page for ruler divisions, the numbering, index, future log, back pocket, quality, etc. My black alligator leather cover will match perfectly with this journal for use in the coming year.

Excelente.

Yes I love this system of organizing my day

Besides the price tag, this notebook really serves its purpose. Especially if you go with the bullet journal method.
