Hi, will this fit a 8 year old or will it be too small?

Hi, Thank you for your question. The Vest is 31ins in diameter around the chest. If you are unable to measure the child, the Vest would fit up to an 8 to 10 year old, depending on the size of the child. I have an 8 year old and the Vest is very snug on him and a 10 year old with plenty of room to spare. If it doesn't fit your child, please feel free to return it. Hope that helps! Perfect for world book day costume

Bought as a world book day costumes for my 7 year old. Fits, but slightly on the small side, I'd say age 7 is the max for wearing this. It's a great little fancy dress outfit overall though.
