I’m an Aveda graduate, so I pay a lot of attention to skincare ingredients and formulations. I also have nail psoriasis, which causes the skin around my nails to become dry, rough, and irritated. This cream has become one of my favorite products because it combines a high level of urea with a price that is far lower than many comparable products.Urea is one of my favorite skincare ingredients because it does two jobs at once. It’s a gentle chemical exfoliant that helps loosen dead skin, and it’s also a humectant that draws moisture into the skin. That combination leaves skin softer, smoother, and much better hydrated. High-urea products are often surprisingly expensive, so I was impressed by the value of this one.I’ve seen plenty of products advertising 60% or even higher urea concentrations. Those claims should be viewed with skepticism because concentrations that high are generally used in prescription or medically supervised products. This cream doesn’t list the exact percentage, but it performs like a higher-strength over-the-counter urea cream.I use it on my hands, feet, elbows, and especially around my nails. Before finding this cream I often had to file away the dry skin around my cuticles several times a week. Now I only need to do that about once a week because this keeps the buildup under control. It also hasn’t irritated my nail psoriasis or caused it to flare, which is a huge plus.One thing I really appreciate is that it absorbs completely overnight. Many heavy foot creams leave my feet feeling greasy and slippery the next morning, but this one doesn’t. By morning my skin simply feels soft and moisturized.Since moisturizers create a damp environment, I’m careful about foot hygiene. I use this cream at night, let it absorb while I sleep, then shower in the morning and keep my feet dry during the day. If you’re prone to athlete’s foot or nail fungus, good hygiene, moisture-wicking socks, and antifungal powders or sprays (when appropriate) can be just as important as moisturizing. Dry, thick, callused skin can have many causes, including fungal infections, so if your feet never seem to improve it’s worth considering that possibility.Overall, I think this is an outstanding product for the price. It exfoliates gently, hydrates exceptionally well, isn’t greasy, and saves me a lot of time because I rarely need to file my feet or the skin around my nails anymore. I’ve used products costing several times more that didn’t perform any better than this one. If you’re looking for an effective exfoliant or urea cream without paying luxury skincare prices, I would absolutely recommend giving this one a try.One final tip: if you file your feet, use disposable emery boards or disposable foot files whenever possible. Reusing files is one of the easiest ways to spread fungi around. I also never use the same file on both my skin and then use it on my nails. If you happen to have an undiagnosed fungal infection, using the same file on your skin can transfer it to your nails. Disposable files are inexpensive and are an easy way to reduce that risk. You can order 100 packs of emery boards on Amazon for $10. Generic ones are fine if you are only using the file once and disposing of it. Emery boards are like q-tips: one time use products. Once they’ve been used they should be disposed of afterwards. They should absolutely never be shared with other people. I’ve never been able to figure out why they are marketed as anything but one time use products. Reusing the same file is comparable to reusing your q-tips: it simply isn’t hygienic.Overall, I definitely recommend this product. It works as well as urea creams that cost several times more, absorbs beautifully without leaving my skin greasy, and has dramatically reduced the amount of filing I need to do. For the price, I think it’s an excellent value and one of the best affordable urea creams I’ve found.
