Going to need adult or older childs help.
This toy was a gift for my granddaughter for Christmas, needless to say she loved it, we played all Christmas day mostly ignoring her other toys! With that being said, an adult or older child will need to help littles w this as it can be tricky getting the dough in and set up, then cleaned for next color.

Not super easy to use for 3 year old
Kinda hard for my son to use by himself. You have to have some strength to twist the top and you have to use one hand to keep the base stable while doing it

Smaller than I thought
Clay was very wet and hard to clean out. Overall smaller parts and little machine than expected but my son still liked it. Also no resealable bags? Had to provide my own.

Very affordable and fun play dough ice cream machine
We continue to use this play dough kit frequently. Overall it's a really nice kit but I will say it has a few setbacks to consider. The positives are that there is quite a bit to do and I was pleasantly surprised at what my 5 year old was able to create with it without any instruction. It comes with 8 packages of clay/dough that are in little plastic wrappers. All said, I'd suggest that an adult needs to be present to at least get it set up initially - placing the tower into the base and then also to instruct the child that while turning the churner lever that it actually is a significant amount of resistance once it meets the dough and it's better to steady the tower with one hand while turning with the other. You're also going to pretty quickly mix the colors, which is fine, but then there's no real storage for the clay after it's removed from the package. We got some baggies or used previous play dough. I'd also say that this lends more towards fresh/soft dough, so as it gets harder over time it will likely be best to get new dough to use with it. The two decorative impression sticks that you have to place under the ice cream holder to select which shape the ice cream comes out are also tricky to install...again, I showed our kiddo a few times until she got the hang of it.I don't know how long this will last before something breaks but so far our five year old is really enjoying it. She seriously just looked at some of the pictures on the box and started making her own foods. I'd also say it looks pretty affordable at under $12, plus the play dough you get with it might make it worth it anyway.
