I like to disconnect from the internet and my phone when I travel so this book was helpful to obtain bits of information with reviews on restaurants, hotels etc. I was happy to have it while travelling around South Africa. I used it as well as the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: South Africa

I used this travel guide as the main tool to plan my trip through South Africa, and I have to say that it is completely unsuitable for your average backpacker. While it does provide practical information on most places (e.g. the smaller towns along the Garden Route), it doesn't give any insights at all into how important those places are, nor what kind of vibe they have.

Information on South Africa was very helpful for our trip. Referenced the guide several times while traveling. Item arrived as advertised and received it quickly.

Whilst I haven't yet been to South Africa, this looks to be a very practical tool for both planning a trip and to use whilst out there. It covers pretty well most of what you would want from a guide although you would obviously need detailed maps alongside this.
