Excellent Video Quality and Easy to Use
This camera is excellent! The video quality is very clear both during the day and at night. Setup was quick and easy, and the app works smoothly. I really like the motion alerts—they come in right away and help me feel more secure when I’m not home. The camera also has a nice wide angle, so it covers a good amount of space. Overall, it’s reliable, easy to use, and definitely worth it. I highly recommend it!

Wide angle, night vision, plug in
We use a camera on each floor to keep an aye on our old cat who has seizures when we are out. The motion alert is great and we can move from camera to camera as she moves around the house and even talk to her through the mic or another person in that room if we want, although we rarely use that feature, but nice to have. Key things I found wanted was a plug in to eliminate the battery charge and change we have to do with the Ring Stick Up Camera, wall mount or table count, small but solid, wide angle lens, night vision, style, price and controllability from device. This is 1080p, recording capable and able to be managed from my phone or device, this ticks all of those boxes for me. This camera is plug in only, great night vision, motions detection and can send an alert to your phone, can wall mount or sit on a flat surface and is under $200. For me it came down to this camera or a Ring Stickup Camera. We actually have both. The Google camera is great if you have an outlet nearby and if the device will stay stationary for the most part. We move the Ring Camera around if the cat goes somewhere we don't have a camera view. The night vision is great as is the motion detection. The Ring Stick up Camera is also good and can easily be moved which is what we use it for and as it is battery operated but keep in mind the battery only last about a day so purchasing a second battery is a good idea so you can switch and charge without waiting. The plug in eliminates the constant need to chare and change the battery. The camera is managed through the Google app so you can easily see all of your cameras in one section. This camera also stays on without going to sleep for a much longer period, the Ring camera goes to sleep every 15 minutes and you have to restart it. The light on the front easily tells you if it is on. The camera settings can all be managed and turned on or off any time. Basic video storage included, 4 hours I think it is, more is available via the additional pay platform. We have two of these and I really like them and recommend it.

Now I spy on my dog all day
Setup was quick and painless—plug it in, connect to the app, and it was ready to go in minutes. The video quality is sharp, even in low light, and the two-way audio is super handy for checking in. I use it mostly as a pet cam, but it doubles as extra peace of mind when I’m away from home. The design is clean and minimal so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb, and since it’s wired, I never worry about batteries dying. Reliable, clear, and easy to use exactly what I needed. Great picture, easy setup, and no battery stress since it’s wired. Totally worth it for the peace of mind (and the pet surveillance). Google UI is fantastic and notifications are within seconds. Paired with Google Mesh the wifi connectivity is flawless

As good as any Nest cam, does not work well with Alexa
I used to have a Dropcam Pro back when Nest bought Dropcam. Then, of course, Google ended up buying Nest later. I had moved to Eufy, and Eufy had some disastrous privacy issues leading me to switch back to what I know the best, Nest..err, Google. I got it hoping it would work well with Alexa (Amazon Echo Dot) to notify me of person alerts, etc, as Google had finally created an Alexa Skill. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The Alexa skill is limited, and can only send out alerts if unrecognized motion is detected. If the camera detects a person, even if not a familiar face, it will not notify Amazon/Alexa. This was not at all what I expected. The only way around this would be to turn off person detection and use motion detection, but that would be a considerable downgrade, and I paid a lot for this camera to get what it offers. I won't be the first to say this, but if you are used to the Nest app, do not expect the same experience using the Google Home app. Google Home app is much worse, even on Android. I'm not too fond of it, and they need to do more updates and overall UI changes for it to be usable.

Extremely Disappointing, Expected more from Google
I've been using Amazon Cloudcam since it's inception, unfortunately Amazon has discontinued that service. I was quite happy with it, cameras had good video quality (all things considered when they first came out), performance was good, desktop viewing, easy to load recorded clips. Being forced to get a new camera was daunting, I did as much research as possible and chose the Google Nest cam. Yearly subscription and features seemed good, cameras were reasonably priced compared to Ring and came with the Google Home ecosystem which was promising. Got my cameras, installed them and then all the issues started. First, there is NO WAY to watch your cameras from a desktop browser, this seems extremely nuts for me, how does Google, a tech powerhouse have no option for this? For my Amazon cameras, I would just log into cloudcam.amazon.com and instantly watch all my cameras at once. When I'm at work it was an easy way to monitor all my cameras at once. But for Google Nest, nope, you have to watch from your phone. Not ideal when I'm at work and you can't watch on a big screen. I can not express the amount of disappointment this brings. Apparently before Google bought Nest you could watch them on a desktop. So disappointing. I placed my new cameras on the same spots as my old Amazon Cloudcams, they are reasonably located from my WiFi router and boosters. My 4 year old Cloudcams performed flawlessly from these locations, video streaming loaded right away. Google Nest cameras constantly refresh with a black screen and give me constant "Live video unavailable". So far owning them for 4ish days I get that message 90% of the time. Performance has been extremely underwhelming for a Google product. How can brand new cameras perform so poorly compared to 4 year old "obsolete" technology. You want to watch recorded video clips? Good luck, they take FOREVER to load. By the time they load your house has already been robbed. Clips taking up to a minute to load. These are recorded clips in the cloud, how can this be so slow? Again on my Amazon Cloudcam it takes about 3-5 seconds for a 5 minute clip to load. Google Nest takes up to a minute to load a 10 second clip. When the camera works (and its not often) the video quality is great, night vision feature is sharp, motion detection is also great. Unfortunately though the Google ecosystem is extremely subpar. Their Home app is also something to be desired. It seems so rushed and poorly designed, like a last minute "we need an app" situation. The lack of customizing where you want icons placed are also so so bad. As for customer service, I chatted them today trying to get help, I've been on the chat so far for 36 minutes getting the same copy and paste answers from their CS person. Took 20 minutes for them to get figure out how to get me to approve for them to get into my system. Going on 40 minutes they ask me for a screenshot. Big yikes Google. I want to like the cameras but ultimately I will return them all (I spent north of $500 on all of these). Maybe try the more expensive Ring or cheaper Wyzecam. If you're looking for an easy setup camera system with little frustration, these are not it. Update: over 1.5 hours with Google support and they seemed clueless. Telling me to uninstall the app, turn off the cameras, asking me what phone I was using, it was all useless. Most of them I already did. Anyway, all 4 cameras have been returned to Amazon. While I was on the chat for over 1.5 hours I researched other cameras and decided to go with Wyzecam. $99 a year for unlimited cameras, web browsing included, color night vision. Cheaper pricepoint on the hardware too.

Ever Wanted to Call Your Dog?
Ever wanted to call your dog? Now you can! This camera is a game-changer. Setup was a breeze, it arrived quickly, and the quality is top-notch. The video is super clear, and the sound? Incredible. You know how when you FaceTime your dog on a family member’s phone, they get excited for a second and then totally ignore you? Not with this camera! There’s something about the sound that grabs their attention. My pets—both dogs and cats—actually come to the camera when I call. My dog even brings a toy, and my cats hilariously start searching the house for me! It’s perfect for checking in, making sure everyone’s okay, and even easing my elderly dog’s separation anxiety. The only thing missing is a treat dispenser! Plus, it records motion-triggered clips that are saved for up to three hours and automatically deletes them—no subscription required. If you want a fun and easy way to stay connected with your pets, or check in on things at home I highly recommend this camera. It’s like FaceTime, but better—for you and your furry friends!

Nest
I have many Google nest cameras and added this to my house. I hate that you can't add it to the nest app and has to be used through Google home. They cut off nest app and as of a certain time in 2021 all new cameras will be added to Google home and not the nest app. The Nest app definitely works better, not stoked that I now have to use two apps for my older cameras and new newer cameras. I find the scrolling through history not nearly as clean as in the nest app. Hopefully one day Google will stop killing apps and products that just work. Will I continue to use Google cameras, yes I'm in the ecosystem and will continue to stay in it. Just wish it was single app, fully integrated, without unnecessary changes.

Indoor only
Mistakenly order thinking it would operate outdoors in a Canadian winter.
