I tried ordering several 100% wool beanies to train outdoors in. Most of them were way too thick and fit more like a ski beanie. This wool beanie fits like a regular beanie and you don't have to fold it up. Yet it's thick enough to offer good wind and cold protection. Also good feeling against skin.

I’ve had at least a dozen of these hats they’re wonderful. A sweater shaver makes them look brand new, and they last until you lose them.

The solid black goes with almost everything, dresses up or down, and has held up to getting shoved in my work bag for multiple seasons.

Fits well and is well-made, though I'm surprised at how thin the wool is. Does the job at 35-40 degrees but have not tried it yet at colder temps. Gave it 5 stars but would reduce it to 4 if not effective at colder temps.

I love the way this hat looks and fits. Plenty warm too. My only criticism is that if doesn't do a great job of blocking wind. It's not bad, but it could be better. Maybe if it was fully lined with nylon or something.

My husband often shaves his head this is soft and keeps him warm no matter the weather

Buy one. If you don't like it re-gift it. Someone will love it. I have four and three of them are over 5 years old. I plan to keep on going until I have the all colors I want. These are great for guys that shave their heads (like me).

I have a few Smartwool and other merino beanies. This has become, by far, my favorite. Others suffer from being too deep or too tight. This version is just right. I bought the charcoal color and a blue one.
