are these the dinoflagellate itselfe or just the nourishment to keep the alive ?

This is only the nutrient solution (nutrient-enriched seawater) for bioluminescent dinoflagellates. Visit PyroFarms' Amazon Store for the actual dinoflagellates.

Can this be used as a medium?

Yes. DinoNutrients is a medium for growing PyroDinos (dinoflagellates) and other marine microalgae.

For the orb, about how much of this do you need? A packet per month? And how often do you din yourselves using this to replace what was evaporated?

For the standard 4" Bio-Orb this 10oz pouch should last around 3 months. You would want to feed a small amount (around 2oz) every two weeks. A LG 6" Bio-Orb would require more, around 4 oz every two weeks.

what nutrients are in it specifically down to mg and ug/L

It is just filtered Pacific sea water from off the San Diego coast.
