The Big Wet Balloon: Toon Books Level 2

Liniers' book is stunning. As a mom who cares about good design and surrounding my kids with objects of beauty...I just adore this book AND so do my 2 kids (ages 6 and 3). Like all the TOON Books, it's a comic and what kid doesn't latch on to comics? But it's also a leveled reader which means a limited vocabulary so it's perfect for a beginner at the 1st or 2nd grade reading level. My 6 year old can read this book now on his own and it also works as a read aloud to my 3 year old. I'd say the age range for this book is 3-7 depending on if you want to read it to your child OR have them read it to you.In addition to the beautiful artwork, there is lots of subject matter to hook your kids: What to do on a rainy day? Rubber duckies? Running in the rain? Catching raindrops on your tongue? Pudding jumping? Digging for worms? Spotting a rainbow? AND Balloons??? There's an awful lot to love and laugh about here! And even though the book is about 2 girls, boys can definitely relate to all of this too. It's a sweet sibling story regardless of gender.I highly recommend this book. It would also make a lovely gift for anyone who appreciates great art and design. When you hold it in your hands you will feel its quality. I wish all leveled readers were this beautiful. I predict this book wins a lot of awards!

Not a bad book, it just didn't live up to the race reviews that propmted me to order it.

My grandaughter just learning to read and we love the cartoon format. I t was a fun read and she is finally getting to where she can read most of it herself

My 5 year old loves to read this book to me and his little brother. He loves balloons (what kid doesn't) and I think it helps to see interaction with a younger sibling. It's a cute story and the pictures are fun too.

This is a great book for 1st graders! Its done in the style of a comic book and its a fun read for children!

This is a book that in some ways reminds me of the illustrations in Winnie the Pooh (though it is different as well) The story itself was fun and engaging and my daughters loved to read through it. To be honest we have already read through it a few times and they are still asking for more (which is always a positive sign). All-in-all you will fall in love with the characters and the story itself, and with it being short, you will definitely be asked to read it again and again!*I received a copy for review - all opinions are my own*
