Tough and pretty
Absolutely perfect bag. The only thing lacking are pen/card sleeves and smaller organizational pockets etc. But in the Macro, this bag is exactly what I was looking for. EZ use clasps, zipper pouches on front and one in back. holds a 17.3 laptop well and room for 3-4" worth of files inside.

Great price, awesome bag, but watch the clasps
I purchased the 15-inch Retro Buffalo Hunter Messenger Bag. It arrived on time. I bought it for my husband, and he absolutely loves it. It has a rugged feel and look that outshines the average leather bag. The color is slightly lighter than the image portrays, but still a rich brown color. The bag feels as thick heavy leather should. The frame of the bag is more rigid while the flap is soft and flexible. The strap is still stiff, but I imagine it will become more flexible over time. It gives the impression of an "Old West" saddlebag, sturdy, weather-beaten and well-traveled. The only problem that we had was that the clasps would slip through and the bag would open if pulled. By pulled I mean that when Hubby put items in the bag (an iPad and some pads of paper) and lifted it the clasps would slip through the openings. We rectified this by gluing some leather on the back of the clasps (see pix) to make them fit more snugly. It was an easy fix, so I did not see reducing the rating to 4 stars because of this one glitch. We probably could have fixed this issue by flattening the clasp holder (the metal bar that holds the clasps in place), but we didn't want to take the chance of ruining the finish or breaking them. Overall, I would highly recommend this bag to anyone, the interior is spacious and lined with a gender neutral pattern. Had I known how awesome this bag was I might have bought one for myself too! I still might!

It isn't the same as the picture. But it is a very good looking bag.
I spent a long time looking for a new bag. My old Bag of Holding canvas bag was finally starting to get a little too shoddy to carry around every day. So, I decided to look for something with flair as well as function. Which is how I ended up here. (Probably how you got here, too. You saw the pictures and thought, "Dang! That's a cool looking bag!") The pictures of the bag in this listing ARE very cool. The straps are all faded and the bag is mottled. It just looks like it has a story. Like your great grandfather Swearengen gave this bag to a rider to bring the smallpox vaccine back to Deadwood. Or Postman Costner carried mail across the apocalyptic landscape in it. I get it. I thought the same thing when I saw the pictures. And I don't want to say that this bag doesn't actually look like this. But mine doesn't. I do see some customer images where it does. User Tanya, for instance (who happens to have the first image I see in the customer images gallery) has a photo that looks very similar to the picture! User Samantha also has a bag featuring that well worn look of a well-loved bag. If you find the photo from user Travis Stewart or Brandon McLeod, however, you will see what my bag looked like when it arrived. It was not mottled and well worn. Instead, it was reminiscent of a chocolate labrador puppy. (Although hopefully in no way related to one!!) It was a very soft brown color. The leather wasn't soft or furry, exactly, but wasn't smooth and shiny as in the pictures, either. I am kicking myself for not taking pictures of it as soon as I unboxed it. Sorry about that. But take my word for it. Similar to those images. After my initial disappointment of not getting Wild Bill Hickock's actual saddle bag, I realized that, even though it wasn't as well worn and mottled and old-timey looking as the picture, it was a nice looking bag! And, since I got it on a Lightning Deal, I decided to keep it. Since it was now mine, my next step was what to do with it. I saw some comments from other bag owners to treat it with mink oil. I did some research to figure out which mink oil. I have to tell you up front... even though I bought a leather bag, I wasn't crazy about the idea of using something made from furry little minks. (Plus, I kept thinking about how it was made -- I kept picturing cartoons where they're squeezing poor furry little minds to get their oil.) As I did more research, I learned that most mink oil (especially the brands you could buy on Amazon) aren't really mink oil at all. They're mostly made from something called Neatsfoot, which is tallow (fat) from mostly beef. So... cow fat. That's what you're about to rub onto your nice new bag. (In reality, that isn't that different from the oil from a freshly squozen mink, right? As it turns out... it is.) Real mink oil has some special properties which make it good for treating leather. I read a LOT of reviews of various products used to treat leather. Some "mink oil" users actually reported a rancid smell from their leather goods after using that oil. Gross. So, I decided against that. But, I knew I had to use something since the leather seemed very "dry." Not dry and rustic like the wild west picture. More dry and "scaly," like when I bumped it against the counter, it left a big "scratch" in the leather. (Scratch in quotes there because it wasn't a dig into the material or anything -- just looked like when you rub something the wrong way.) I moved from mink oil to leather conditioners. And there's a ton of those as well. (I really learned a lot as I was simply trying to find a product to use on my new bag!) I ended up deciding I wanted something reasonably natural and plant-based (as I wanted to avoid potential rancid smells from animal fat), but still effective. I found several such products, but then remembered I actually had some Dr. Marten's Wonder Balsam in my closet from my Doc Marten days. (You don't know me, but that was quire awhile ago.) I checked it out -- all natural, plant based ingredients. Beeswax, coconut oil, and lanolin. I decided to give it a whirl. And I couldn't have been happier with the results. It darkened the bag up from the chocolate lab look to what you see in the pictures (which is much closer to the seller's picture than what arrived in the box.) It also softened up the leather, gave it a nice sheen (but not shiny) and brought out some of the contrast in the leather! It still doesn't look like the picture, but it is a good looking bag that I have gotten compliments on. So, beyond the look (if anyone is still actually reading this), let's discuss some of the features of the bag. It seems to be fairly well made. The inside is not as roomy as I had hoped, but it is certainly enough to carry my laptop, notebooks, pens, charger, etc. (The stuff you need to get through the day.) You're not going to be able to pack it full of clothes for a trip, too, but I am guessing that isn't what you bought it for. (It's not what I bought it for, anyway.) The pouch inside has some padding to it. And, though I didn't expect this, it stands up when you set it down, which is a nice touch. User Tanya pointed out the straps in her review. I didn't understand it until I got the bag, but now her warning makes complete sense. I took a picture so you can see what I'm talking about. The strap to close the bag has a fun little clasp that slides into the bracket on the front of the bag. That clasp is buckled to the strap. But there's nothing really holding that buckle in place. It buckles onto the strap, but when it is open, it is very easy for the buckle to come undone, since nothing is providing tension to keep it closed. This is nothing a little well placed glue couldn't fix, but it is worth mentioning, since if you lose one of those, the bag isn't going to work well. Overall, I gave this bag 4 stars. It doesn't look like the picture. But, with a little work (and some Wonder Balsam), it can look pretty darn good. And it does seem to be well put together. We'll see how it holds up over time. If you're on the fence, my advice is pull the trigger and get yourself a good looking bag!

... purchased this bag because my Sampsonite bag was looking pretty tired. I didn’t realize how tired it looked ...
I purchased this bag because my Sampsonite bag was looking pretty tired. I didn’t realize how tired it looked until the new bag showed up. The leather on this bag is awesome – tons of character and thick. On my previous sampsonite, the leather seemed almost like it was painted on and as the bag wore, the color would peel off exposing a grayish almost fabric like material. This bag is nothing like that. The leather is real all the way through and is it wears, it gains more character rather than looking cheap and beat up. The inside liner on this bag is very nice, looks good, and keeps everything in it’s place. It’s smaller than my previous bag and at first I thought this would be a problem. However, it easily holds a laptop, chargers, phone, ipad, and a few large files with no problem. It’s actually better than carrying a larger bag that tends to become cluttered – I carry only what I need now and am more productive because I don’t use the bag as storage and then forget what’s in it. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase. I’ve bought a ton of stuff on Amazon, and have only written a few reviews – only when something is really good or really bad will I take the time to review and this bag is really good – especially for the price. At the mall, a bag like this would be $300 + assuming you could even find one. At this price it’s an excellent value. I never thought laptop bags could be so interesting, but I’ve had this for about 3 months now and about 5 or 6 people have complimented me and asked where I got it so they could order one. In the 25 years I’ve been in the business world, this has never happened once until now. I’m sure you’ll be happy with this – great quality, real/thick leather (not the fake pleather crap), nice inside liner, perfect size, tons of character, and the best price I’ve seen.

Quality product!
Edit: I've owned this bag for 14 months, still use it 5 days a week, and it still looks fantastic, smells great and is holding up very well. I attached a picture taken 14 months in, just to show how good it looks! I've owned this bag (15" model) for well over a month and I use it for work 5 days a week. It has exceeded my expectations by far! The leather IS thick, but I'm glad for it. The checquered plaid lining is a nice elegant touch. The compartments inside are just roomy enough for my tablet, power chord and notebook. It has several extra accessory -zippered compartments as well. The top flap feels really, really solid and the front clasp mechanisms are a solid touch. In fact, with this bag I can use the clasps or buckles to fasten the top flap. I get compliments on this bag everywhere I go. It is solidly stitched and sewn. The leather smells fantastic, and people ask me, "how old is that bag?" In short, it's well made, is holding up great, looks like something James Bond or a World War one pilot would've owned. If your waffeling between this bag and another -buy this one. You won't be disappointed.

Broken strap
I absolutely love this bag, the more it is used, the more distressed it looks. Ive had this bag for 4 years and Unfortunately the connector for the strap to bag broke this morning. Is there a chance you sell strap separately?

DO NOT BUY!
DO NOT BUY! The clip SNAPPED IN HALF the very first time I put it over my shoulder...and it was EMPTY! I love the look of this backpack....love everything about it. When I received it I was a little disappointed that the main flap is just raw cut leather, there is no trim that goes around the edges. I didn't mind that too much though and couldn't wait to use it to haul my work laptop around town. The very first time I brought this to work with me, I got out of my car, and put the strap on my shoulder, and immediately I felt the strap come off and the bag fell onto the ground. No big deal, I thought I must have just not connected the clip to the strap all the way. Then I go to re attach it to the bag, and to my horror the actual CLIP HAD SNAPPED IN HALF, THE METAL CLIP!!! The first time I had put it on my shoulder it snapped the actual METAL CLIP in half. Keep in mind the bag was literally EMPTY still at this point too, thank god, or I would've had a broken laptop too. So freakin disappointed that this bag was a POS, like most of the reviews had warned me it was. If you are a leather worker, and can fix everything that falls apart on this yourself then maybe this bag will work for you. For the rest of us who are not, it is a major fail. DO NOT BUY!!

Fantastica!

Very happy with my purchase - glad I picked this one.
Great Bag - Doesn't look as "Dirty" or "Distressed" as the photo - More even coloring but a very very good bag for the price especially. Received compliments and it worked perfect to hold my Microsoft Surface, an ipad, an ebook reader and some note books for work. The front 2 pouches are handy for Charge cables / USB cords, Laptop mouse, and other things. The only con would be some wear at the top edge of the bag due to how it hangs on the shoulder - But it's not really an issue and I'm being Picky!

Gran artículo
Sensacional. Completamente recomendable.
