If you hold the small round button down for 5sec, it will turn the heat function on. Push the round button again will change the heat setting . Hold the round button down for another 5 sec will turn it off. When you push the round button 2x quickly, it will show how much battery left in the device.

I just used my cell phone charging cable: I put the usb side into my laptop and usbc side into the charger. Depending on how low the battery is, it can take up to 4 hours to recharge. The lights will flash blue while recharging. Once it's a steady blue (i.e. not flashing), it's finished recharging.
