The media could not be loaded.  They are not the easiest to install. I can back up the reviews struggling on proper placement. My hinge position was outside the box. I ended up having to notch a channel for the strut body to clear in the open position. The brackets are definitely the weak point. If not aligned properly they will bend. There is some slack in the top 20% (80-100% open). No pressure until a slight drop. They do not hold in the open position, they are not a lifter, they are for slow closure. They have great pressure on the way down though. You can’t force them closed faster. This installation is a very heavy lid (roughly 60lbs) and they work great. I read the reviews and anticipated the drawbacks I mentioned. For the price they actually exceeded my expectations.

The media could not be loaded.  I purchased these struts for a toy box I built for my kids. The lid weighs about 20 pounds. They arrived without any instructions. I searched online and then remembered Amazon had some instructions on where to attach the brackets. They work perfectly! I had one small adjustment to make (see picture). I tried using 1 strut only, but didn’t like how the lid was closing. Adding the second strut makes it better (see video).

After finding out I was going to be a first time dad. I kicked into bob the builder on starting to redo my office into a nursery. I decided to build a custom toy box built into the closet. After getting it built I realized the lid closed a little hard for my liking. If a newborn baby decided to open it up it would easily of slammed there fingers right in it. After so research I came across this and felt it would be a perfect addition to prevent any fingers From being smashed.. after figuring best way to install it worked just as I planned and comes down very slow without slamming.. overall great product to its intended purpose
