Wintergreen friction cream helps protect skin.
I ordered this Wintergreen Friction Barrier Cream (2.5 Oz), Tea Tree Oil, Shea Butter - For Friction-related Chafing, Blis for my teenage son, who has grown hugely in the past year. I didn’t know until recently that teenage boys can get stretch marks. My son shot up to close to six feet in the course of a year—he was a little boy, and now he looks Ike a grown up man. Like his father, he has fairly sturdy, hairy, Scots thighs—they both look great in a kilt. But my son does occasionally get friction rashes on his thighs, especially in the hotter months, his high school has nine floors and the escalators are constantly down, so he is always sprinting up multiple flights in the few minutes between classes. I ordered this for him to give it a try. It’s winter now so it isn’t the high season for rashes, but he does still occasionally get a bit of redness on his thighs. He liked the wintergreen smell a lot. He said it was like falling into a vat of toothpaste at the factory. To him, this is good thing, just to be clear. I found the scent strong but pleasant enough, My son said he found this cooling to the skin, I tried it on my hand and didn’t have that feeling, but I also didn’t have a friction rash on my hand, mileage may vary on this. Anyway, he’s been very pleased with this, and says it cuts down on the friction and the rashes. The real test will come when it gets hot, but bundling up for a commute in the NYC cold, then getting on an overcrowded, hot subway, then racing across Lincoln Center so he isn’t late for school (he goes to LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts), then running up and down stairs all day has been a pretty good test, too, and he’s a big fan of this product. This comes in a green and white plastic tube that holds 2.5 ounces. It feels nice on the skin, is thick, and spreads easily. It contains shea butter and tea tree oil. Friction cream has strong but pleasant wintergreen scent. Works well to help prevent rashes and irritation from skin rubbing together.

Helps My Heels
The main reason that I got this is because I sometimes have issues with shoes along the backs of my feet. My heels are quite narrow which causes me to easily walk out of my shoes. This, of course, can cause some problems if I'm walking too long with those flapping shoes. Even just some small movement can chaff at my heels. This is where this really comes in handy. It softens the skin while also creating a barrier that sometimes prevents all of those friction issues. It won't last for a really long hike, but I'd be wearing different shoes anyway then. For my needs and uses, it's helpful. Oh, and I like the minty scent, especially around my feet. Milder than my pain creams tend to smell, but just enough to notice during application.

Great to prevent chafing and smells good too
This works great to prevent chafing and it smells good too. It is easy to apply and so helpful, no longer have to worry about chafing during long runs. Thankful for this.

Not good for pressure sores (bed sore)
It did not stop the sores from becoming deeper nor did it heal it in any way at all.

No tamper-proof seal!
Based on the ingredients and a limited test use, it seems like this cream will be effective again chafing, chapping, and friction-related skin injuries. Despite its effectiveness, a couple factors prevent me from giving this high marks. First is the strong minty aroma. If you use this people around you are going to smell it. I think an odor-free formulation would be much better. Second, and more concerning, there is no safety or tamper-proof seal. The box can easily be opened and closed, and there's no seal under the cap. This is very concerning for any medical or skincare product, and on this basis alone I recommend NOT using this cream.

Minty relief from chafing.
So far so good using this Wintergreen Friction Barrier Cream (2.5 Oz) in lieu of resorting to the messier baby bum paste that's a lot harder to wash off hands (unless you happen to have some dish soap handy). I thought it might sting if applied to an already previously chafed area, but so far haven't experienced that yet. I like the minty, invigorating scent (that smells a tad medicinal due to the Tea Tree, but at least not like toothpaste), but then I pretty much love everything minty. If mint's not your thing, you may not like a Wintergreen scent. I like it; makes me think of cold, crisp fresh air. The cream itself has a slight green tinge, but it blends out easily and applies & absorbs fairly quickly. Definitely make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after application, especially if you have a habit of rubbing your eyes since mint & sensitive eye tissue don't mix well (even if Tea Tree wipes can feel quite refreshing).

Good for preventing rash
This, because of the ingredients need to be applied before spots, like road bicycling. Since hands need to be washed after use, applying during the day on a ride becomes a bit of a problem because there often isn’t adequate places to use soap and water. Applying before sports is what I recommend to help with any fiction. The is a strong wintergreen smelling product, but not unbearable or overwhelming. I would prefer no scent at all, but am still happy to use this on my thighs. Just be careful where it is applied.

Moderately helpful
I could see this being useful to avoid something like fabric to skin chafing, but it was only slightly helpful for skin to skin chafing. I lift weights regularly and the muscle in my thighs will rub when I go for a run or take a backpacking trip on the trails. I tried this product to help avoid that, and it does buy a little bit of time before the issue comes up. I can’t say its effect enough to recommend for skin to skin friction in any extended situation.
