I have to wiggle it to get the blue charging light to turn on. now i am taping it to keep the blue light on. anyone else facing this? recommendations?

I've had this new charger for my laptop for several months and I don't have to wiggle anything. My only possible answer is either your laptop port is bad or wrong power supply...I just found my original and it fits snug just like the one I purchased from Amazon and/or third party from Amazon. If your power supply port has been hanked out or misused then yes it'll cause you problems and the port has to be replaced within your laptop and that is relatively easy to do as well and not that expensive...I hope this has helped in some way!
