Spoiler image! Loved this puzzle
I added an image because Iโll admit there were moments where I got frustrated and wished I could take a quick look to get an idea of what the puzzle was. BUT with that being said, really the part that I loved was that I DIDNโT know what the image was. Once I got a decent amount put together, I couldnโt stop working on it. Took me a little while to do but this is the first puzzle Iโve done probably ever, beyond small ones when I was a kid. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and loved the mystery of not knowing what the final image was. The story was eh, but reminded me of the Poirot mysteries which I love. Bought another from this brand as soon as I finished this one and canโt wait to get started on it! Only con - I had one corner piece missing, but honestly I moved the puzzle around the house on a board to work on and could have lost it along the way so I wonโt fault the manufacturer on that and it didnโt take away from the enjoyment of the puzzle.

Pieces missing
Itโs a good, challenging puzzle. The pieces are dark, which makes it difficult, but I like a challenge. My problem was that I got a duplicate edge piece, but was missing 3 pieces.

Fun twist to puzzling
I picked this up for my husband, who loves to do a puzzle every year during the holidays and is always looking for a new challenge. Not only is this one 1000 pieces, but the picture is unknown. Included is a booklet with the short story, which ends with the mystery unsolved (although there are enough clues that it's not hard for mystery sleuths to have a pretty good idea where its headed). Whether or not a person can guess the 'who-done-it' has little to do with the challenge of putting the puzzle together. This is a larger puzzle and luckily, we left ourselves quite a bit of table space. It took 4 of us around 4 hours to complete it. While it's impossible to guess what the puzzle will look like when completed, there are contrasting colors/textures as well as familiar objects to make sure it doesn't get too difficult. The pieces aren't always cleanly cut (little ears of paper from the pack not cut clean on a few), but that wasn't a problem. The cuts were also very varied, and the pieces do sit nicely together. After finishing the puzzle, some of the mystery was solved. The rest was explained in the booklet...some of which seemed a little far-fetched but that's not the point. It was quite a bit of fun to do, kept even my two older teens entertained the entire time (they usually give up on the puzzling after 1/2 hour or so), and added a fun activity to the holiday weekend. I'd definitely buy it again.

Unique, challenging puzzle
We had never done one of these puzzles but as it combined a love for jigsaws with a love for mysteries, it seemed like a good fit. Inside the box is a booklet with the mystery and solution as well as the puzzle pieces. Although the description clearly states that the picture on the box will differ from the completed puzzle, we thought it meant that there would be some subtle changes that would provide clues for the mystery. No. The picture on the box bears no resemblance to the finished puzzle other than they are both food related. There is no grid on the back for assistance and obviously no reference photo. That alone was challenging but the puzzle image also provided another layer as it would have been tricky even with a reference photo. After you finish the puzzle, review the clues and solve the crime, you then go back to the booklet to see if your solution is correct. Note: the clues are obvious, so it is a fun ending to the puzzle. This was a several evening project for us that we really enjoyed. We would definitely do another.

Fun to put together, but art and story disappoint
I've done a few mystery puzzles before, both from this company and from others. I enjoy the experience of assembling a puzzle without a reference picture, but the corresponding stories and mysteries almost always disappoint. Same goes for this one. On top of that, the art is just poorly photoshopped images stacked on top of each other - see attached image for the most egregious example. What is up with the left edge of that purse? The story: The setting and characters are pale imitations of Hercule Poirot and Murder on the Orient Express. There's been a murder aboard a train, and a famous Belgian detective who happens to be a passenger must solve the case. It's a quick read, and the writing is just OK. Solving: I had fun assembling the puzzle. Many mystery puzzles are too dark and lack contrast, but this puzzle has distinct colors and patterns that make solving quick and fun. Pieces go together nicely and I had no missing pieces. Artwork: Not a fan. Poorly photoshopped such that sometimes it is difficult to tell what exactly you're looking at - unnatural shadows, objects chopped off at the edges, no real depth of field, and weird "watermarks" where the imprint of a barely-visible object is superimposed on a random part of the image, obviously unintentionally. While the colors and textures make for a fun solve, the finished product is not aesthetically pleasing. Definitely not one to glue and hang on your wall. Mystery/solution: The "solution" does not require deduction, critical thinking, or logic. In fact, if you try to implement these, you will overthink it and miss the obvious. I spent half an hour trying to figure out if there was more to what I was seeing - is the similarity between X and Y meaningful, or just the result of cheap composition? In the end the answer is literally just written on the puzzle. Womp, womp. Overall: If you're curious to try this type of mystery puzzle, you can do worse. But don't set your expectations too high. And only buy it on sale.

Great Puzzle!
I have done several of these puzzles and enjoyed them very much. They are a challenge but I wanted something that was bit more difficult. There is on picture, but once I got the edges done, it was easier to find color matches. The mystery stories are well written. I have to admit I did not always solve the mystery, but I was more interested in completing the puzzle.

Patience
This puzzle is like none other I have ever done. The puzzle pieces are different sizes, colours with weird shapes. Frustrating at times, very challenging and requires lots of patience.
