Hefty and solid, but fairly loose tolerances. Finicky installation; If you don't get it screwed together with everything aligned perfectly, it won't operate properly with the motor, or else the motor isn't strong enough to overcome internal drag. I spent a few hours messing with it which included dissassembly (which may not have been necessary) to remove manufacturing burrs from various parts and to add a bit of grease. It works very well now, but I'm fairly annoyed that I had to go beyond just installing it. You may have better luck.Reception from the remote is good when the batteries are fresh, but it falls off after a week or three. I could hit it in the driveway as I was parking, but after a month, I have to be within a few feet. Works fine in cold temperatures, but haven't tried ice yet. The key will overcome that, anyway. Don't rely on it to open electrically; always have the actual key along with the fob, but that is true of any of this sort of entry set.If you install this on a door that swings in, be sure to check your door stop so it doesn't bash your wall; it's longer than a normal handset, and will hit before most stops will catch the door.

Ok I can finally write a review on this door lock. I bought it back in july 2015 intending on installing it on a new steel door on my auto shop. By the time the door was installed it was august, I put the lock in and after 2 or 3 times of turning the knob it jammed and wouldn't open , had to bang on it to get to open. I immediately removed it and put it back in the box and was going to send it back, but I really needed this type of lock. I set it aside for a while until things slowed down a bit, took it out of the box again and played with it a bit. The problem with the unit is not the locking motor ,but the jam mechanism it self , so I went to home depot and bought a KWIKSET replacement for five bucks, and now it works great.! I know I read another review about this problem with this unit somewhere so I think this a the fix . Hope this helps others.

THIS PRODUCT IS A NIGHTMARE. We had to return the first one as soon as we received it due to it having a manufacturing serious defect. Now the replacement has failed twice. A family member put his key in to enter the home and when we turned the key provided, the tumbler fell out of the knob and all of the pins fell out of it too. We had to get on our hands and knees to find them. this has happened twice now. So this lock is totally made defective. I want a refund NOW so that I can replace it with something THAT WORKS PROPERLY. AMAZON, IF YOU ARE GOING TO CARRY THESE, PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND BE COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO MAKE GOOD ON THIS ONE.

I bought this item once and had trouble with the screw that holds the battery cover on. The screw was almost completely stripped. The screw is so small that they give you a small screwdriver in the package. But I had to use a pair of pliers to unscrew the screw (the screw potrudes and was not flush wirh surface). I put batteries in and the latch to lock and unlick with the fob sounded, but it didn’t lock or unlock the lock. I returned it and got another and the screw again was stripped. This one was worse and I could not get the screw out to put the batteries in it. In their defense, they do give you a spare screw, but after several battery changes, I believe second screw will strip. I wish they had a better mechanism for holding on the battery cover. I returned the second one hoping that the design will improve soon, maybe from the major lock companies.

I have never written a product review before, but I was so impressed with this lock I felt it was time to write one. I needed to replace a door knob from one that didn't lock to one that does.I went to Home Depot and bought the best, highest end lock I could find. It wasn't bad, but the screws were impossibly difficult to install on the knob, and it didn't feel totally solid and sturdy. I also had to pull on it HARD to get the latch to pop inside the door frame. That lock has now been returned.This lock on the other hand, the RKK-01AQ was a breeze the to install. The instructions are well written and easy to understand. It even came with a tiny screwdriver for the battery compartment. The lock feels totally sturdy, makes the door feel like a brick wall when locked. The latch mechanism easily slides into the receptacle in the door frame with very little effort.I am not by any means a professional lock smith, but I do like to do things myself around the house. That being said, this lock took me less than an hour to install. Someone with experience could probably put it on in 10 minutes. This is a replacement, not a new installation however.I cannot attest to the longevity of the lock, as I have only owned it for a few days now. So I hope it keeps working, I have a feeling it will. The only suggestion I have for the maker of this lock is to add a button to change the beeping volume and/or mute it. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice :).Thanks for a great product!!
