We’ve been living in our house for over 20 years, why I hadn’t decided (probably because I have 6+ ladders) to do this earlier baffles me. Anyway it is in, and operable. Load capacity of over 300#, heavy duty aluminum stairs, but not heavy. It feels planted when going up or down. This was installed in our garage, the slope of the floor was not an issue. There is enough adjustment in the last rung to about get it perfect-planted feet and no twisting. It has a small hand rail for safety. A quality product and worth every dollar. Cheaper than a ER visit. I hope this helps.

To get in my attic

Arrived promptly in an undamaged box which was great but... when we opened the box the back panel that you see on the ceiling when its installed, was damaged. One of the rivets had blown through the panel, obviously during manufacture as it seemed impossible to be a shipping issue because the box was perfect. This is ok as it's installed in my garage.. but if it was in the house I'd be a bit upset. Installing is pretty easy once you have the opening framed up. Instructions tell you to square the unit with cross measurements, only trouble is the frame wasn't assembled square so that's impossible. Square it by eye and its all good. Pros- space saver because now I can get rid of the difficulty of getting an extension ladder up into the garage attic. A BIG PLUS for me. Pretty solid to climb up, better than my extension ladder for sure. Cons - Not terribly good quality, ladder is good and sturdy for sure but for a finished installation inside a house it would require some modification. I would remove the flimsy 1/4" back panel and frame it in with a finished panel or drywall. Also for interior installation you can't insulate it unless you include insulation in the modification. I'm in Canada so.. Brrrr... in the winter. Overall I recommend it for a garage install, would probably look for something better prefinished for an interior install.

Package arrived damaged from FedEx. Took about five days. Corner of box was all gouge out exposing the wood corner. No damage to corner but one of side boards of frame was warped and bowed quite badly. Made it difficult to install. Had to use lots of shims and extra screws of my own and I had to trim one of the wooden bump stops in order for the stairs to retract all the way. Overall though, a decent product. Sturdy and decent looking. Better quality control is recommended to the manufacturer and kindler shipping by FedEx is in order. I see lots of reviews of damaged boxes and damaged wood. Maybe the manufacturer could do better at more secure packaging in the event FedEx can’t get their act together. Installed by myself. Wasn’t overly difficult if you can lift 50lbs above your head.

sturdy ladder, fairly easy install, Incredibly convenient. I used to just have a hole with a board over it and decided to install this and sheet the bottom of the trusses in my attic for storage space. getting up in the attic is so easy now.
