I have an east-facing window with direct "searing" morning sunlight that also contributes to solar heating of a small enclosed porch. Because this window has a beautiful view to the outside, I really hated to install blinds or curtains. I tried a traditional round umbrella, and it provided no real shade. However, THIS 9 ft half-umbrella in a beautiful shade of blue is a GAME CHANGER!! The umbrella pole is easy to assemble/disassemble, measuring 1.5 inches in diameter, with a solid fit in the base. The crank feature, rather than push up, is fantastic, allowing me to fully or partially extend for the sun angle. In addition to providing awesome shade from the sun, it looks great on the deck. The umbrella also helps to reduce the amount of solar heating in the porch, and it doesn't hide the view from the window. This umbrella is well made and a great deal. (I saw similar models online 2 an 3 times this price.) Even if I'm not outside, I am definitely enjoying this umbrella every morning!!

This umbrella worked great on a outdoor deck that gets relentless sun. Along with the weight it was perfect for this balcony. Great coverage and durable.

Works very good, there is no tilt. Looks very nice. Material is thin cloth. Not sure it’ll be that durable. Light color may hide the sun fade. Stitching seems of good quality, and the mechanics of the crank work well. It’s stability in the reinforced umbrella stand I use is good. Needed to use a drop of oil for the pole’s lock pin, as it has a tight tolerance. It has as much water resistance as a piece of cloth, but I consider it a sun umbrella. I’d fold it in windy conditions. Cause even if it won’t fly away, it might get pushed in to breaking the window it’s shading.

I can’t believe I moved a full sized umbrella around on my deck for three years for my southern facing patio door. Living in a windy place, it frequently tipped over too. This half shade umbrella has been so convenient, looks great, and has withstood Midwest winds. It’s done wonders to keep the summer sun off of my floors and help cool the house. I work from home and dislike using the a/c and it’s shade has given me an extra couple of hours with the windows open before I have to turn it on if it gets too hot. I was surprised that it didn’t come with a base so had to purchase that separately. We’re prone to summer storms in the afternoon so I either close it before they happen or haven’t kept it open if I have to leave the house to see it’s performance in a thunderstorm. Lightweight and easy to adjust up and down or pull backwards a bit to fully open and close since I have a sconce against the wall next to the patio door. Doesn’t sit quite flush but I haven’t played around with the assembly and it hasn’t changed it’s performance.

I bought this for my patio door. Perfect for when you want shade but don’t want to commit to a full umbrella relationship. It does exactly what it promises—blocks the sun, saves my patio from becoming a frying pan, and looks surprisingly stylish doing it. Easy to set up, sturdy enough for normal breezes, and great for small spaces. My sunburns officially disapprove.

I purchased two umbrellas in 2023 from this same vendor that was a good quality. Bt what a big difference in material, when I purchased two more just this month. These new umbrellas are lighter with cheap thin plastic at the crank, does not feel sturdy, is missing the metal clip at the top to keep secure when opened and what happened to the tie strap used when it's closed, that's missing too. You could have at least had a velcro tie strap. Are we now to use bungie cords? I don't like purchasing something at a low price that LOOK LIKE I paid a low price as in a BUDGET BUY! It looks cheap. I doubt it will last the summer.

This is exactly what my husband and I needed for our little patio! Looks good, cranks smoothly and easily, and provides great protection from the sun! It’s super easy to assemble (like one snap) and could be easily transported if needed. We got a plastic base that we with sand (water works too) and it fits perfectly. The material feels thick, durable, and it looks nice. Happy!
