Hi. Actually my 5 year old enjoys playing with them at bath time. She wanted a " waterproof" Ariel. This was perfect!

Is the material like hard plastic that could make noise when thrown in the bathtub?

It's a softer plastic. You can squeeze them. Same material as a rubber ducky or a similar bath toy.
