Plug and play 1 year later and no issues

It's a headlight ballast, either it works or it doesn't and mine did so what else is there to say? The seller took all the guesswork out, the ballast was in an ant-static wrap like a PC component, had stickers over the female connections with diagrams of the male connector so you could make sure it was the right plug, had warnings about water in the old ballast and that the new would fail if that was not addressed, had a card with a hyperlink on it for install quid-lines. I am an automotive technician and knew what to do going into this and why it happened but I was blown away by the care in packaging and homework they did to help the end user. The E90 series BMW's get condensation in the headlights easily and the ballast is on the bottom so obviously it gets a short circuit and these guys spell everything out for you, good on them. It looked nearly identical to the old ballast with the same unit size and ridges, shapes and patterns to reassure me it was the right one as 2 different styles were available for my car depending on when it was made.

Works very well, I recently bought a 2nd one since my other ballast went out but i had bought 1 some time ago for my right ballast and ive never had an issue since installation, would recommend!

The ballast fits perfectly and the car's headlights are working once again.The braided metal connector needs to be pushed in all the way, the OEM one needs to be firmly pushed in all the way and so will this aftermarket unit. The labels give plenty of suggestions, make sure your headlights is not leaking water(usually the main reason for the ballast to fail in the first place)So far it's worked great on the e92 M3, I will update if it fail prematurely.The support from the seller is exceptional and I suspect I should have no problem asking for a replacement if it fails in the near future.

Sorry to say, I took a chance on one of these, and mine arrived DOA. I first installed it in a working headlight assembly in my 2008 pre-LCI E92 BMW, and the bulb just flickered feebly. Naturally, the same result in the headlight I was trying to fix. My advice: This is a part that is $500 new OEM from BMW. The chinese are not going to be able to manufacture it new and sell it for $60 and have it be as good as the original. Your best bet, go on the infamous auction site, weed through the new chinese knockoffs that proliferate, and find a used OEM part that is known to be working. It will be more expensive than these cheap copies, but you will have a working headlight. BTW these units were installed on Cadillacs as well as BMW, same part.Got my used OEM unit and installed it. Everything just worked like it should.Update: Got a nice note from Customer Service with suggestions on troubleshooting.Update 2: The folks at Genuine Xenon, on their own volition and expense, sent me a new unit. I think that speaks volumes for their integrity and desire to do right by their customers, and I applaud them for this. Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the energy to take everything apart again to test this unit when I now have a working headlight. And I have to stand by what I said regarding the likelihood that these units are in the same league quality-wise as the OEM ones. But who knows, YMMV, and the customer service at Genuine Xenon is great.Here is a picture of what the real one looks like.

Had a major concern when it appears the internal connections of this BRAND NEW BALLAST melted after the very first test! I was able to remove the melted debris and opted to try it again since I thought there was "no returning it now." *IT WORKED JUST FINE... I originally left just an "OK" rating on Amazon never imagining that I would be contacted by the owner of GenXenon- the seller of ballast. Shockingly, they had stated they would be happy to exchange & replace this ballast "just for piece of mind." I have never had an electrical part considered for return/exchange no matter what the issue- once you buy it, sale is final. After corresponding with the owner telling exactly what happened, they agreed to ship another one to me the same day! I have since recanted my original "OK" rating and gave them a true "5-star" rating solely based upon their correspondence, concern for my resolution, and excellent business practice... (*did I mention even after I had thought the ballast connections were melted- IT STILL WAS WORKING!) Therefore, I believe their product is worthy of a true "5-star" rating as well. Cant beat it for the price. Lights worked well and much cheaper than BMW wanted for the same thing.
