Plays nicely tuned as a viola.
Replace string 4 with nylon guitar string D, tune to C G D A, same as viola, cello, tenor banjo. Well made, only had to file down to smooth the sharp fret ends. Pretty look and tone. Light and easy to grab up and play. Chord like tenor banjo. Easy to learn all the notes, and to transfer that knowledge to the other above named instruments.

Good starter Uke for the price
For under $50 is good starter Uke, tunes up easily stays tuned while playing. First Uke and good quality for the price. If you are an experienced guitar or uke player you may want to invest in a better one. Only complaint would be the gig bag, little small for this model and very thin, no padding at all if you want to protect it save the cardboard box it ships in would protect it better.

Not too shabby..
Love the texture and feel of the wood. The moon cycle gives it some character. And the sound is very crisp and easy to tune

It is almost all good! It took a while for the strings to stretch and STAY in tune, but, except that the first section of the fret board is a bit too close to the first tuning fret head, all else is fine.

Beware of sharp frets.
I am returning this ukulele. The frets have sharp edges and cut my daughters finger as she was changing chords. The tuner gears are wiggly, and don't maintain proper tension. I watched it spin back around, as I tuned the string. Would not recommend this to anyone. There are lots of other choices for ukulele.

If you think of it as a project uke to learn how to do basic maintenance, it's totally worth it.
The sound of this uke was, at first, boxy and hollow. The strings felt plasticy, but since that's fairly simple upgrade, I spent another $5 on some Martin fluorocarbons, and the tone became much more palatable. The frets are sharpish along the sides of the neck. The action is too high. The saddle is plastic and not glued down... but when I consider this as a project uke, - to learn how to change strings, dress frets and lower a bridge - $40 (including new strings) isn't bad.
