The humidifier is very easy to clean. I do it ever 4 or 5 days.

Is there a compartment for drops such as vicks vapor drops?

Don't use Vicks vapor anything in anything other than a Vicks vapor machine. Vicks products will ruin other machines.

Does this unit have a filter?

The Dual 200S comes with an optional filter, which helps catch minerals from hard water.

does it require wi-fi?

The Dual 200S has the ability to be controlled manually or by pairing it with the VeSync app. You can use the buttons on the display to turn the unit on/off and change the mist level. You can used the VeSync app to control the power remotely, adjust humidity settings, set timers, etc.
