While you won't ever change the coolant since it is a sealed closed loop, they generally contain a mix of distilled water and propylene glycol

Will this cooler work on a 1151 socket motherboard?

Absolutely it comes with an adjustable backplate for both Intel and AMD socket types

Is this cooler compatible with an AM3 Socket?

I us an intel chipset, the cooler comes with an AMD adapter so you'll just need to swap out the intel adapter that's on the CPU cooler out the box
