Blades are good but not great.

Original was better, sharper.
Not the original Astra razors I used to get. My second order and either the manufacturer has changed the method of making them or everything now is a bootleg version. The original Astras were clearly marked as such and had numbers on the corners so you knew what side you flipped the blade on. Now you can barely see the brand mark and they are not as sharp as they used to be. Considering the price, I can always just ditch them after one use. But definitely not as sharp and not as close a shave as before. Looks like I will have to shop around for a new brand.

There are close shaves and then there is this...
Used these for a couple of weeks now after having used Derby blades for the last year. I was a little apprehensive about using these as I have had the occasional nick with the derby blades but had become used to using them and thought it would be a whole learning curve coming to something like these. I can honestly say that I am so glad I changed. A few shaves in and not one nick. Skin is super smooth and the shave amazingly close. 100 of these should last me a few years and throwing in P&P and the soap stick was a nice addition too. I have the same Arko shaving creak soap stick already and they seem to last months too. I have gone from spending £12+ every couple of months on shaving products which nicked and gave average shaves to this way of shaving which costs little, delivers excellent results and is in my opinion more of a pleasure to do. A real cracking buy :)

Not sure whether to change from multi blade 'cassette' razors to this? Don't waver - go for it!
Unhappy with the cost (environmental & cash) of 'cassette type multi-blade' shaving I decided to give this a go... Just had my 2nd shave (lasting at least 24 hrs longer between shaves btw) & I had to write up this review - I'm a complete convert.Poke 'one blade shaves you close, 2 blades shaves you closer' it bloody well doesn't. I never embraced 4 or 5 blades that's just daft. This is a great shave, I have never had a better shave at home. Comparable to the closest shave you can get from going for a full Turkish barber treatment, with facial, hot towels & a double cut throat shave - which I highly recommend, this really is what I hoped for.Tips - watch a video on technique for best results, you do need a lighter touch and to keep the skin tauter, head doesn't swivel at all so a lighter touch is needed. When going under your nose I found a 'cross shave' (turn your razor horizontal i.e. shaving across your face parallel to your mouth) got the hairs right under my nose much more easily than attempting to go down.Your first shave will be a little nervous my 2nd was fine & IT'S GREAT.With total cost of c £25-£30 I have a new razor & 100 blades enough for 500 shaves - cost per shave less than 6p. With even the cheap cassettes I was buying (I stopped at three blades) I was paying at least x3 - x4 times that & not getting as good a shave. Metal only razor blades can also be recycled whereas I understand 'cassettes' present a problem.I was really nervous that how could this be a better shave with such an 'old fashioned' approach - in my view its a way better solution so go for it. (FYI I bought Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge Safety Razor Blades which seem to be an excellent choice too)

Smooth shave, smells nice.
Bought with "Jagen David ® B40 - Butterfly Double Edge Razor Safety Razor"Smoothest shave I've ever had and I've tried it all. This was my last option as I get a bit irritated from aloe vera which is on a lot of the razor strip heads. The razors were sharp as @!#& but perfect. The soap is a soap probably could use normal soap or gel which I will in the future, but the razors I 100% will be buying again and if it's a better deal to get the soap with it then so be it no loss as I like the smell as well. Reminds me of something nice like an "old comforting memory" but I can't think what. Anyway love these. They come in individual smaller boxes and all the mini boxes in a big box, so it perfect to keep safe.Too much information time:I used these on my lady part and didn't nick myself once, which I was surprised at because I usually do, these made me v smooth.

Old Fashioned Quality And Value For Money
These astra razor blades cost literally pennies and each blade lasts about as long as one of the premium disposable blade brands costing hundreds of times more.Using these with a safety razor is no more dangerous or awkward than a disposable multi-blade. It just benefits more from preparation and you'll need to maintain a good 45 degree angle for the blade to cleanly shave (it doesn't take long at all to master this and then it just becomes second nature when shaving).Like with coffee, large multinational brands have taken razor blades, a product that previously cost pennies to make/sell; they then repackage the product and use marketing to somehow condition people into spending 2 or 3 quid on an item they previously paid pennies for.I'd recommend doing your wallet a favour and at least try a pack of these in combination with a good quality safety razor.

Exactly what you'd expect from good quality razor blades, and at a very reasonable price
I'm not so keen on reviews where the reviewer lists literally everything they own within a mile radius of them while they're shaving as if they're in some sort of elitist competition or something, so I'll try and keep this brief by saying that I use Astra Superior Platinum razors with my Merkur 23C razor. Of course, I use shaving soap, as well as other products, but I reckon it's the blade and the razor it's used in that matter the most.Astra Superior Platinum blades are of very good quality. I've been using them for over a year now and have never had a problem with them - they're as sharp and precise as you could ever want a razor blade to be - and you can use both edges of the blade a few times comfortably before having to change it.What's even better about this particular bundle is that it's cheaper for 100 blades and an Arko shaving soap stick on Amazon.co.uk than it is on a certain popular auction website for just the blades. While you may not like Arko shaving soap sticks that much, you can't argue with 'free', and you certainly can't argue with paying less for more. And if Arko shaving soap sticks really aren't your thing then you can also get these blades bundled with some styptic matches for even less than this bundle.I won't go into the whole 'safety razor blades are way cheaper than cartridges' thing as it's pretty much a no-brainer - £12 for a pack of eight cartridges versus 100 blades for under a tenner. Instead, I shall close by reiterating that Astra Superior Platinum are exactly what you'd expect from good quality razor blades, and at a very reasonable price.
