My five year old daughter wanted this statue for her birthday. You know you have raised a cool kid when this is what they ask for! She LOVES it! We both decided it was a good idea to put the sharp spear else where so nobody gets hurt. Athena has had many adventures so far with my little one. Many car rides to pre-school Athena is by her side. Every night as she sleeps, Athena is right there guarding she and her sister from nightmares. My daughters like to play "Warriors" and Athena is their muse! I love this statue! It is heavy, well made and gorgeous! The detail is amazing! Athena likes her new home and is ridiculously adored by her new admirers!

Poor finish on Athena's legs and the Lack of Uniformity of color of Statue
I ordered this statue from the picture and description listed on Amazon.com. This particular statue depicts Athena as a formidable goddess, but she still has a feminine look, particularly in her legs. My first statue had tool marks on the legs front and back--not well finished. I ordered a replacement, and it was essentially the same. I decided to keep one of them anyway, but if the legs had been well finished and colors were more uniform, I would have been really satisfied with my order.

Really love this "action" pose for Athene
Too many of the classical (surviving) poses for Athene (Athena) fail to show her primary role as a warrior goddess, so she's depicted as a standard woman in a long robe standing perfectly straight and poised and not at all prepared for battle besides a shield or a spear, etc.This statue - and I'm not sure if it's based on a classical depiction, but - depicts a perfect balance of Athene the warrior/wisdom goddess. She's poised and armed for battle, she's still feminine, you can still see the defensive/strategic nature of her cunning (she's not rushing headlong into battle like Ares, e.g.) it's just generally 100% spot-on to the ancient descriptions of her, and it's lovely and attractive for what it is. Really can't recommend it highly enough, 5/5!
