I am so impressed with this hair dye! The color came out rich, vibrant, and exactly as shown on the box. It gave me full coverage (even over some stubborn grays) and left my hair feeling soft, shiny, and healthy no dryness or damage like I’ve experienced with other brands. The formula didn’t have a strong chemical smell, and the application was super easy. It even came with a great conditioner that made my hair feel like I just walked out of a salon. It’s been a few weeks and the color is still holding up beautifully with minimal fading.

I felt guilty for not giving it ten stars. I have been using this monthly for three consecutive years. I like it for so many reasons: 1) My hair has never been this beautiful. Well, my hair is Asian straight black type. It makes my hair so soft and shiny. It’s shiny, but I did not expect this condition in my 50s. 2) The blue hue stands out in the sun. 3) I did not feel that the color fade at all. I used it to cover my silver hair. I could only observe the new hair growth, but the white part that were dyed in the past was still as black. The only complaint I would have is that the quantity was reduced. Nowaday, I can use one set for only a root touchup. However since it was never fade, only root touchup is enough for me.

Ok, due to all the scary reviews, I was very nervous diving headlong into this. I did purchase because ultimately I didn’t mind too much if all I got was black hair? I last colored my hair in March of 2020 before the craziness. It’s now Halloween and I’m not loving the red tones that came from my last chocolate coloring from another brand. I had five inches or more of new growth and the rest had a red tone from the previous box dye I did in March. The reviews all told horror stories, but I’m glad I tried it anyways. My natural hair is I guess a dark blonde or light brunette? I had three or four day old hair, and I’m oily and fine, make sure your hair is always unwashed and free of products before coloring. I followed the directions in box and was careful with my surroundings as not to stain my bathroom, as I’ve done before with dark dyes. My hair is a beautiful shade of dark blue, it’s no longer red toned! There is a blackness to it, but I see the blue wonderfully. Hoping I can keep it this color. I’m going to continue to use this shade as long as possible. If you have naturally brown hair, like me, I don’t see why this won’t work for you, plus I had my hair previously colored as it says not to, but it worked perfectly with my hair anyways. I did make sure to rinse my hair very well afterwards, then used the mask included. Afterward I used a leave in conditioner just to be safe and to protect the color even more!!

Update: after a few days the color set in DARKER. That I didn't like as well. Still a pretty color but being a bit darker really clashes with my skin tone. I am in the process of gradually lightening now. So, in short; nice color, set in darker after few days. I usually avoid this brand but couldn't find a deeper blue in an affordable price range. I didn't want to spend a lot just to test out a new color. So, as a self identifying hair dye expert, I give this my approval. Knowing this brand, it washes out and fades FAST. I expect to redye in 2.5-3 weeks if I wanted to keep the vibrance. I expect it to wash out after 20-30 washes or so. That said, the smell is very strong for this color. The box includes a scented oil to help mask it, but it was subpar at best. Not a fan of strong smelling dyes. The dye mix does rinse off the tub/shower wall/sink fairly easy but will stain clothes, towels, rugs, bath mats and such - kinda common sense. Now, I must add and emphasize the color on the box is true to the actual color on hair. It is a true to box color! I was really surprised it matched the box! It is more of a Smokey indigo blue rather than a sapphire, dusty or muted blue. It wears rather dark on me. I am a honey brown (medium brown) pre-dye. For that fact I am giving this a 5/5. True to box color is what I was looking for and it's what I got.

I buy the ultra indigo color {blue black} and it works very well. I have super thick 2C/3A hair naturally, down and over my behind so A LOT of hair to work with, but I use 2-3 boxes for my roots/to spread it all over for a refresh. It doesn’t seem to stain my pillows or clothes afterwards but I almost always blow it out after I dye it. My natural hair is a dark brown reddish tone & my baby hairs get super light but this does the job. The only complaint is when you mix it all up it doesn’t fill the bottle all the way (hence why I buy 3 most times). The cool/blue tones are pretty visible though I will say! Which is big for me.

I used a semi permanent dye before this, and it barely did anything and lasted only 2 washes. But this dye, I JUST LOVE IT. My hair is dark blond naturally, so it's a lot harder for me to find great dyes for it. I was looking for a dark blue dye but I dreamed of having black hair. The dye came out as really dark and it's still notice able that it's a blue tint, but I literally LOVE the color so much it's perfect. I was scared of using black hair dye because it was never going to come out, but this is blackish blue on dark blond. GOING TO USE AGAIN. I can't stop looking at myself in the mirror because the color is perfect for me. I recommend using GARNIER if you have darker hair. BETTER RESULTS THAN ON THE BOX. IT'S EXTREMELY VIBRANT.

I dyed the underneath of my hair 2 weeks ago with the Dark Intense Indigo. For years, I have colored that area with a blue/black and wanted something with more blue to it but still darker in color. This seemed to be just what I was looking for. I used a bowl and a color brush to apply the dye. I never use the enclosed applicators as I always find them to be messy. That may be why I didn't have any issues with dripping as some others have stated. It went on easy and didn't leave my bathroom looking like a dye packet just exploded. I made sure to saturate the hair and left it on the allotted time. While rinsing, the water wasn't dark like some other colors I've used and didn't cause any problems with staining of the tub. The dye that got on my skin came off easy (I always apply Vaseline all around my hairline and neck before putting any color on) and there wasn't any major lingering staining on my skin. The conditioner made my hair feel soft and I didn't suffer any damage to the ends. That was the good things about it. Now the bad things. It didn't grab completely. Lucky for me this is just the underneath of my hair, but there was blotchiness where the color didn't hold, an issue I've never had before. Also, after two weeks I'm still seeing color residue on my towel after I wash my hair. Although I initially did get the color I was looking for, dark with subtle but noticeable blue tones, it seems to be washing away fairly quickly, leaving just a black/brown behind. I've always been able to hold color really well so this is a bit disappointing. I don't think I'll be buying this color again.

Have box dyed my hair for 40 yrs so I’ve been around the block with different brands & colors. My hair length is long, texture is stringy straight, & im sure majority is natural grey if i didn’t dye it. This has been my go to regular monthly maintenance color/ brand for many yrs now as its easy to use (i literally just pour it on, mix it in, & wash out in 20 mins). It smells nice, & i love how soft my hair feels when freshly dyed. Pic is Halloween but shows the length of hair 1 box can cover
