Pack of 2 Squirrel Houses by Prime Retreat

We have quite a lot of squirrels in our yard. I bought 2 of these and 2 more of another style. Hawks are a nuisance here every summer, and attack their nests. I wanted to at least try to help them out a little. These are well made. Now it’s fall and it’s so cute seeing them poke their little heads out to see what is going on outside. I would definitely recommend.

I ordered these squirrel nest boxes for the baby squirrels. I have rehabbed and released. They are still living around my home and I see them daily. I hope these nests will provide great shelter for them. They are well-made and a great size. I did treat them with food grade mineral oil, which brought out the grain in the wood, and I hope will protect them from the elements. I recommend them!

EDIT: Two nights ago, our camera went off to alert of activity on the nest box. It was midnight. Now, while it kept the bobcat away (twice), the baby squirrel was killed by a raccoon. My husband just went to open the box. He found blood, hair and an organ - not much left. What surprised us was that the wooden shelf inside, thought to keep predators from reaching their arm in, did not work. Why? Because it was made of wood and the squirrels chewed it off thereby leaving them exposed to predation. We are devastated! I will be contacting the company directly with the hopes they can use a different material that is safe but not get chewed by the squirrels. If you buy this, maybe you may want to cover it with sheet metal or something? IDK.We bought this for a squirrel rehab release. We set up a camera to watch to make sure the squirrels took to the house okay and were safe but then kept the camera up as it's fun to watch and now we might have babies in the Spring! It's sturdy and properly sized. One night, the cameras picked up a Bobcat that climbed the tree and sat on the box trying to get to the squirrel. We even heard her chattering! Fortunately, the Bobcat could not get her and left. So we're very happy with the craftsmanship and will buy more for future releases.

These are GREAT squirrel houses. They are much larger than I expected and they have a baffle beneath the entry way to keep predators from reaching and and snagging a baby squirrel. The squirrel that we raised from a baby and released back to be wild, wasted no time in moving right in. I love this product - well made with obvious craftmanship.

These will last unlike typical cages and rabbit hutches usually found online
