Not your grade school papier mache
I have several Paper Mache books. This is by far the best one I've bought. It doesn't give you projects to copy instead it gives you techniques to help you create your own ideas. The author shows you how she accomplished many aspects of her own sculptures and works of art. This are advanced techniques and not your grade school Paper Mache. I learned so much and gained so many ideas from this book. I was hesitant to buy at first because of the price and there were no used copies available, but I learned why. I would not sell my copy either. It was well worth the cost to me and I think it will be for you too if your serious about Paper Mache rather than making balloon piñatas.

Wonderful book on papier mache
I have to admit I'm busy buying and reading books about papier mache, and not doing much of it - yet. I think this one is excellent for how-to's - and does have some ideas about working with papier mache that are unique to this book. This appears to be a self published book, by someone who has been teaching papier mache, and really has it down about how to teach this craft. I would like very much to take a class from her, but failing that, this book is well worth the investment. I especially was interested in the type of glue she recommends - which is so very different from the glues normally suggested. This I will definitely try out. Although what to do with that gallon of wall paper paste (pre-mixed) that I already invested in?

The artist has a very good grasp of structural integrity
I am very happy with the instructions in this book. The artist does not give lessons to complete the projects that she has done herself. Instead, she gives the information that the reader can use to construct his or her own design. I started by reading the book all the way through before attempting to do any work. The most valuable part for me is the way she teaches how to build armatures that are very strong and light weight--all without the use of wire and other things that could compromise the workability and integrity of the armature. I just completed my first project using her methods and I'm very pleased with the result.

Clear thinking for professional quality results.
Excellent! Detailed directions for all sorts of constructions. Not step by step for somebody else’s cute ideas, but how to think through your own ideas and use paper mache as a fine art material.

A Beautiful Finished Art Work
After working in a different method of papier mache for 25+ years, I look forward to trying this recipe. The book is well written and the method easy to visualize. I loved the photos of her work and loved her finish. I highly recommend this book.

She shares methods of approaching the medium which greatly expand the range of what I considered possible. I had previously assumed that the best way to get smooth and precise shapes with laminated paper was to use molds or a sophisticated under-structure. (IE-chicken wire or clay build-ups and such)Her method produces results like those, but with basic materials. And the final piece doesn't have all sorts of wood, wire and other heavy things trapped inside of it.Very happy with this book.

It's okay..
I bought this because I was interested in learning more advanced Papier Mache techniques and the reviews seemed to suggest this would be useful. There are some great ideas in here and some techniques I've not considered, but I think this is print on demand so it arrives later than the listing suggests and the quality is awful to the point of distracting. Very thin cover, wonky pages, thin paper for the pages (print shows through from the other side) and poorly reproduced photographs that do a disservice to the authors work. The illustrations are easy to follow and have reproduced well and seem useful however, for the price I expected a good, durable reference book that I could keep on my shelf and dip into as needed. This book is flimsy and unattractive, I wish the author could have published in a way that showcased her work and knowledge better

So glad I bought this book!
A wonderful book that presents papier mache as an incredibly versatile and viable sculpture medium, the techniques are well explained and illustrated with photographs and drawings throughout, my only slight quibble is that personally I would have preferred more photographs rather than drawings to help explain the techniques and perhaps one or two step-by-step projects to show the entire process, that slight quibble aside Monique is beyond generous with insights into her techniques and the whole book is a highly informative goldmine of possibilities of what can be accomplished with the simplest of materials and a little patience....Highly recommended!!

Excellent book full of detailed photographs along with the instructions
Excellent book full of detailed photographs along with the instructions. Certainly expanded my knowledge of how to create various shapes and pieces to utilize in creating models made of Papier-Mache. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for ideas and inspiration if they are diving into the world of model making using Papier-Mache.

First Mache techniques book
Really enjoying this one. As someone that hasn't used paper mache since school, i've picked it up again to build larger scale sculptures. Read a few reviews of this book from online sources and glad i went with recommendations. If you're after a book for small scale pieces like dolls or figures this may not be the best bet, but it will still give you ideasCertainly worth buying

Great instructions.
Fab book. Great instructions especially for large scale designs. Not really for beginners.
