Coiled Basket Kit (Basic Version)

I'm 37 years old and I could barely make this craft. It's very difficult to push the needles through, and it took my 9 year old son and I an entire Saturday to complete. The end product is hideous. We couldn't even bring ourselves to give it to Grandma for Christmas.

I bought this on etsy originally. It's an okay little kit. Unlike the other review, mine turned out really cute. It isnt easy on the hands- arthritic hands would really hurt. But that's not the kit's fault. If you cant get your needle through, you're weaving too tight. The start is the hardest part but once you get past the first 2 inches on the bottom, its smooth. Just watch your fingers in the beginning! The needle is sharp! Your hands and wrists may be sore if you're holding or weaving too tightly. A thimble can help too for when the needle does meet resistance.I took off a star for the material. The raffia is way too stringy and brittle. It's nice to get a kit to learn. But you'll probably get halfway through and realize you do want to do it again but with better quality raffia. Most of the remaining raffia wasnt useable at the end but I did make the whole basket with it and now have a fun new skill.
