Review of The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living
I really liked this book. The hardcover itself is super nice — it feels good in your hands and looks great on a coffee table. You can tell a lot of care went into how it’s made. The layout is clean and inviting, and the photos and little details make it a cozy read from start to finish. The book does a great job explaining what hygge is all about — that warm, comfortable feeling you get when you slow down and enjoy simple moments. It made me want to light some candles, grab a blanket, and appreciate the small things more. It’s not a long or heavy read, but that’s part of its charm. Just a nice, comforting book that leaves you feeling a bit happier and more relaxed. Totally worth reading.

Shout out to our Danish foreign exchange student friend
a Danish foreign exchange student who we met and became friends with recommended this Little Book of Hygge to assist "Spring Cleaning" when she came over for dinner one evening and saw how we live in a cluttered home. We actually have a large two story house with three car garage and basement, so there's no shortage of space. The problem is we WERE admittedly living like "packrats" with generations of family heirlooms, collectibles, and junk! It is easy to read, fun to read, playful, common sense, and transformed our family home from what originally looked like something that could be on TV documentary of people who live like hoarders, to now after enjoying this little book of Hygge our home could easily be featured on a TV show for those who thrive a happy minimalist lifestyle. Thanks Denmark for sharing your country secrets to happy living!

Enjoyable, but be aware of the print
I have enjoyed reading several of Meik Wiking's books on Scandinavian culture and attitudes toward life. His books are thought provoking and easy to read with the exception of the faint, small print in the "little book" series. For those of us with older eyes, print that is darker and slightly larger would be easier to read.

This book describes a beautifully simple way to lead our lives.
My partner often gives angel readings and counseling for people who need healing, guidance and consolation. This video shows her creative arrangement of our living room. She arranges flowers, candles, and simple art with comfortable furniture. And she loves to prepare her own organic meals from scratch. My own work is very demanding and can at times be quite stressful. I'm lucky to have her share dinner with a glass of wine and candles almost every evening. After reading this book, I now know that everything she does is Hygge. Neither one of us knew the word, but she does everything like this automatically. This book was a great eye-opener for me as Hygge was in plain view in front of me all the time, but I didn't recognize it.

A little sized book with a little explained Danish practice.
As a feng shui practitioner based in the Black Hat Sect and follower of anyone describing ORGANIZATION AND PLACEMENT OR REMOVAL OF STUFF ... and all things "making house into a home" ... I wanted to learn more about HYGGE especially as this is the season of doing this sort of "stuff". The hunkering down. The winter solstice honoring. The candles on. The cozy blanket and the warm wool socks. So that is the essence of the book. There is some sharing of documentation of what other mostly European nations do about practicing this sort of comfortable-ness making. The author is well grounded in HAPPINESS and HYGGE so I thought he would have lots of wisdoms to share. Instead ... not so much. The book is physically tiny and easy to hold and read. The illustrations are adorable. But the meat and potatoes (no pun intended) of the book is a bit underwhelming. Would not order from this author again. Think I get the picture about "what is hygee" already and did not learn a whole lot from this book. Too much personal sharing by the author as to his experiences. Seems like hygee is all about getting together with friends and sharing an alcohol drink, eat chocolates and have a shared time/experience usually at the end of a "quality" shared day. Seems a lot of frosting on a cake (which is also what Hygee is!). A lot of glossing over. Thought "Happiness Institute" would offer a whole lot more of how to do it, what it is and how to improve upon it to bring more to one's soul ... it just fell flat for me. Will try another author. Book came fast from the seller. Would buy from seller again!

Soothing to the soul
A delightful book about how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life like, cozy socks and a cup of tea. I just purchased this book, but it came highly recommend by Angela Jia Kim, the author of Savor Beauty available here on Amazon. I am reading this book as part of my self care nightly ritual. I do my skincare PM ritual, make a cup of tea, light a candle, turn on some classical music, put on my cozy socks and sink into my cozy bed with this heart warming book. It reminds me to enjoy life, family, friends and still silent moments which are quite calming to the mind, body and soul.

Easy to read book with easy to understand concepts
Great book. Easy to read and concepts are laid out well and easy to understand. Picked up some fun information about Denmark along the way. Used the book to help me have a HYGGE party at work
