A Brilliant Book
Unfortunately, we have very little detail about Pelletier’s life once he got back to France, but we are fortunate to have a lot about his life with the Aboriginal people of North Queensland for 17 years. The anthologists notes backing up most of what Pelletier told his French interviewer adds even more credence. I found it difficult to put down.

Accurate but too stilted and academic for enjoyable reading.
Historically accurate. Far too academic to read though. It was really difficult to read - so much so that I gave up.Robert Macklin's book "Castaway" is also historically accurate but a much better version of Pelletier's very interesting story

Disappointing.
Totally spoilt by the inclusion of contemporary reviewing.I wrote in the book after I finished reading it, 'There is very little to learn from this book if you want to add to your knowledge of traditional Aboriginal cultural practices.'Buckley's book provides far more information.
