From my experience it is an excellent product for a very good price. Not a plug 'n play, though. It requires some hands on, so I will share some of my experience to ease this process or at least give some ideas.For some customers struggling with the Manual, please ask the seller to attach the information within Amazon's mail so they can answer you back with the needed information. It took me one day before getting it so perhaps a little bit of patience is required, though.The electronics are modular and are designed mostly to plug in the corresponding sockets. Each socket has is own orientation and shape so you can't make a short circuit. If you don't have the manual at the moment, use the image displayed at the product description that shows all the components so you can have an idea of how it should be looking and where the cables will be going. Use the wiring color to ideintify signal and power cables. After plugging all the cables, you can solder a 110V inlet with a switch to the power supply cables for a better ON/OFF control. The power supply unit's AC input is also fused so no extra protection is needed.For the people struggling with the included AC power supply cables it uses IEC AC Power Wire Coloring so brown is the hot line (1 phase), blue is for neutral line and yellow+green goes to grounding. So keep this in mind if you are soldering to an inlet. As I mentioned before, all the other cables are in connectors with a corresponding size and edge that will fit well only in the corresponding socket avoiding mixing signal sockets from power cables.After assembling, the standalone operation uses DIP switches to change between 8 possible modes. One of them allows reading audio signals from the included mic to write patterns according to that signal. The corresponding DIP codes are in the manual, so wait for it if you don't have it. For a quick test set LOW all switches except for switch 1 and switch 10 this will produce a [1000000001] that will set an 'auto cartoon' mode that will draw random animations. Use a laser pointer towards the mirrors and see the generated light patterns.Also the system supports ILDA and DMX512 interfaces so you can control it from a PC with the respective adapters (DAC) or external hardware boards and software as freeStyler (DMX) or Pangolin's BEYOND (ILDA). In my case I will test a DMX-USB with freeStyler. Keep in mind that an XLR/DMX connector with its wiring is need to connect the PCB port to the adapter. I will have to test this setting first to verify if it works as intended, though.It Is not Plug 'n Play, but hope my experience can be of help to fellow customers.

overall It is working fine running from the show card. My only complaint and why this is not Five Stars is the power supply died as soon as i plugged it in requiring me to get another one (got the replacement from jameco since i could not find a +-15v on amazon). The supplier quickly got me the manual when I contacted him through amazon.

Amazing capabilities for the price of the parts. Excellent for DIY electronicsLaser projector/scanner. The 'Play Board' has several geometric and cartoonanimations (a pleasant surprise); Has LDMA DB-25 connectors I can drive theX/Y positions from a DAC supplemented Raspberry Pi. Fun Times;Docs are sparse but adequate. Also has a 3 pin connector for a DMX interfacealthough I've not tried that yet. Has Auto animations mode and the ability to use theattached microphone to influence the animations playing stand alone.Great DealUpdate-After a couple of hours of operation one of the two Galvo motors stops working and gets both the Galvo mounting block and the driver very hot; troubleshooting isolated the Galvo motor; swapping the cables and drivers points to the Galvo motor. Works when ambient; after a few minutes of use it either shorts or freezes up. (The Galvo motors are not rugged); got a few hours of fun from it before this failure

Thanks to Victor's review, I was able to get the thing properly wired (I tested each step with a meter to make sure the voltages were proper) and fire it up in test mode. There's a bit of slop in the galvos, but plenty good to put on a show. There looks to be a lot of adjustments on the boards, maybe I can dial it in tighter. Likely, fastening the mirror module to a solid surface would help quite a bit as well.I also noticed the mirrors were a bit dusty out the gate, but that's fixable..For the price, I'm totally happy. Can't wait to get it solidly mounted and hook up a computer.

The manual was missing when we received it.

This kit is powerful and at a very reasonable price point. The kit is also nicely modular such that the power supply, signal generator/show card, drivers/amps, and galvo assembly are all separate units so you could for instance supply your own signal generator but reuse the drivers, power supply, and galvo assembly.I should note you do have to supply your own laser and matching safety gear as well as your own mounting hardware.

Works as advertised, good fun project, Galvo's bit slow but good enough to get started with.

The product came with no manual even though it was supposed to come with one. My power supply was non-functional out of the box. Multiple people have had the same issues. This is garbage.
