This product is very sticky, if you need to move it, it may be a bit difficult, but you can try to make it move with soapy water, it is best to install it in a good position at the beginning to avoid repeated pasting.

What would happen if i stuck this to the outside roof of my van?

Hello, for the time being, I have not seen it used on the outside of the car, usually to stick in the interior of the roof, stick on the outside should also work, but this is neither beautiful nor durable it.

What's the R value on this stuff?

Not very much. Thus is more used for sounding/noise reduction. For insulation look to insulating material.
