Q: can this be used on adults?

Although I didn't try them on, I think they are ok for adults too. The elastic is quite large so it should accommodate adults.

Q: Does this fit a one year old?

Yes they were smaller on my 6 year old they would be a little bigger on a 1 year old but I would 100% recommend them! Perfect for pictures etc

I bought these for a then 4 year old. If I remember correctly they were a bit large at the time so probably the size would work for you. They have lasted so far despite being played with for a good while so one night should be no problem at all.
