Illuminate

This album is AMAZING!!! It is very reminiscent of Nick Jonas' project from the Jonas Brothers era, Nick Jonas and the Administration. It is filled with acoustic and bluesy vibes, topped off with a kind of vulnerability not normally seen in a young 18 year old man. While Handwritten was full of positive songs and upbeat rhythms, Illuminate is definitely filled with more Shawn. Bad Reputation, No Promises, Lights On and Hold On are all very successful attempts to show just how much growing up Shawn has done. Handwritten was his introduction to the world: a young kid breaking out with optimism and wanting to share his strength. Illuminate does exactly what the title suggests-- it shines a light on the reality: no one's life is perfect. Even though he is attractive, talented and kind, he isn't impervious to heartbreak or emotional pain. "Hold On" is about a conversation with his dad who is trying to talk Shawn through an episode of feeling vastly overwhelmed by all of the chaos of fame and success. Shawn is the anti-Bieber. His only schtick is his talent and he takes what he delivered in Handwritten and multiplies it a thousand-fold with Illuminate. He isn't strictly pop. There isn't a ton of bass or EDM laced in. It's a very mature, easy listening album that will tug at your heartstrings and restore your faith in the younger generation in terms of music. Having had his hand in every track on the album, Shawn Mendes proves he isn't here just because of his looks. He's here on pure talent and he's not going anywhere.

One of my favorite albums in CD format! Overall sound quality is great and love having a physical copy.

The delivery with this CD was really quick. The CD case has a small crack on it on the back of the case, but it doesn’t matter because the CD itself was in perfect condition. Each album of Shawn’s has a different feel to it, and Illuminate has this amazing gospel feel that is so worth listening to. Incredible album !

There is so much "garbage" and "pre packaged" music and artists these days, I quit listening to the radio a long time ago. The music either all sounds the same, or I find it offensive and tasteless. No real talent. Just artists who have been more or less created by a label. A few months ago I turned my stereo on for the first time in a very long time. Random station, not one of the high profile ones. I found I loved what they play, and they actually tell you the artist performing the songs they play! That 's is unheard of now, at least around here. This is when and where I was exposed to Shawn's music. His songs made me want to get up and move. They emitted emotion. I went out and bought his CDs! I am middle aged and have loved music since I was a small child. This young man has talent, raw talent. He was definitely born with a gift. I hope he doesn't let the record label tell him who to be and what to sing and take over his life.

Shawn Mendes is a soulful singer who has a voice that puts your heart at ease. It is so hard to believe that this young man has such a skillful voice and he has so many different sounds in his voice as he is singing. I find him to be refreshing and I am not a groupie. I just have the album. I just find myself listening to it when I want to relax. He sounds like an old soul.

This is a fine second album by Shawn. Disappointed that “Holding me Back “ not on this copy. Apparently only available on the deluxe edition

I’m not sure why more songs on this cd wasn’t playing more on the radio. Who chose and decided to play which songs? I would love this job. Everyone would get the play time and attention they deserve. I recommend this cd. You can’t go wrong.

Vinyl came in great condition and sounds great!

Tolles Album zweites Album von Shawn! Wunderschöne ( fast aussschließlich ) Liebeslieder, die eine tolle Stimmung zaubern. Anzumerken ist jedoch, dass sich viele der Songs gleich anhören und es kaum Abwechslung gibt. Dies ist aber für mich kein Manko :) Die Deluxe-Edition ist es super schön gestaltet und für die extra Lieder lohnt es sich aufjedenfall ! "Roses" ist für mich ein totaler Ohrwurm.

Really enjoyable. Shawn's song writing at it's best, I really enjoyed this cd.

Reçu bien emballé, donc le vinyle n'était pas abîmé, ni la boite. Tout est bon, il fonctionne bien, a été reçu rapidement.
