GIGABYTE GA-H270N-WIFI LGA1151 Intel H270 Mini ITX DDR4 Motherboard

The perfect mini-itx board if you aren't looking to overclock. This went in my Fractal Node 202 build and works flawlessly and the BIOS UI is pretty nice. The wifi on this board is the best wifi I have ever experienced.

A great item for a mini-ITX build. The case I used (Antec ISK110) didn't allow for even the most minimal video card, so I cannot comment on gaming use beyond what the Intel IGA allows. I've little doubt that a wide case with a PCIe riser cable, like the Fractal Design Nano series, would allow for a pretty good gaming system about the same size as an original Xbox One.

Hard to overclock RAM. I've been in the BIOS and I have tried everything, but no matter what I do I can't get it to overclock RAM faster than 2400Mhz and I have 3200Mhz capable RAM. Other than that this motherboard is solid in every other aspect. I bought this for a sibling since it was newer and cheaper. Worked great with an i3-7100. My personal computer has an Asus Z170i motherboard. It's not perfect either it came with a bad CMOS battery. I replaced it and it has worked great ever since. If the Asus Z270i was out I would probably buy it with a 7700k. Comparing Gigabyte and Asus motherboards side by side I think Asus is easier to use in the BIOS. You can easily overclock the processor and RAM in the BIOS without much effort. I also like some of the utilities the motherboard comes with like AISuite3 for a lot of control over your motherboard within Windows. Can update BIOS from it as well as adjust fan speed and fan curves. Nothing like that came with this board. There really isn't a performance benefit to choosing a motherboard. It is more for extra features and utilities as well as ease of use, so don't let me stop you from buying this board. It is a very good motherboard for the 7th generation intel processors for a very good price.

My order came slightly defective, yet to liaise with Amazon's amazing customer service yet, but I bought the same board from my local store as a replacement, so I definitely can review this board. If you need a powerful mini ITX system along with 7.1 audio, this board is a good place to start. Below are my system specs: Obsidian 250D case i5-7500 2X8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM 1 SSD 2 HDD Radeon 7850 This system is more than capable in handling gaming, web browsing, applications. Anything you throw at it, it'll handle. Multitasking is a breeze. I've never hit 100% CPU utilisation apart from rendering videos. But back to the motherboard. It comes with a wifi module and since almost nobody has an optical drive anymore, do note to download the wifi drivers from gigabyte's website to activate the wifi. Then download the latest realtek audio drivers, and you can reassign the line-out (blue) jack into a side speaker out jack to get 7.1 audio. The 2 RAM slots is more than enough for the average user. I have 16GB of RAM and never even hit 6GB of use as I am gaming while playing youtube videos or doing other things. I am not too sure with using custom CPU coolers as I am using the stock heatsink fan, but I know you need to take dimensions into consideration as the USB 3 header is near the CPU socket.

Finally, after months of exchanging motherboards back and forth with Amazon sellers and other online retailers, I actually got one that works. I don't know what else to say really. I guess I'm just so relieved that this one issue is now behind me. I've had Linux installed in the system it was built for, but I have another purpose in mind in the end. But hey, I have to give it 5 stars because I don't have to buy a single additional motherboard now.

Short story: I bought this item, used for 28 days, stopped working after enabling Secure Boot in BIOS probably due to a bug (there are some people on the web complaining about this exact issue in more countries, just search for it on the web) and had to return. Happily, I was under Amazon's return policy. The board looks good. Good specs, good construction, as you would expect from a board of this brand/price. However, it's still too early... the board was released in january, chipset is also new... so I can infer that the embedded software is not so mature or stable yet. The problem I had, in detail: Using Windows, machine started to give random BSODs (IRQs and kernel exceptions, not memory or driver related). After rebooting, Windows complained about secure boot setting being disabled on BIOS and asking for the recovery key. with the key, system booted. When I tried to enabled again secure boot on BIOS, the board rebooted and never turned on again. It stayed into a boot loop cycle: boots, shuts down after 3 secs. Clearing CMOS jumper or removing batter didn't change much: it stays on up to 7 secs, shuts down and starts the cycle again like above. No signal on HDMI, power and fans working. I tested the board with Fedora, Ubuntu and finally Windows 10, all with secure boot enabled... until I find this unsolvable problem and decided to return it. Apart from this, what I can comment about the motherboard: 1) WiFi works not so well. I didn't have time to investigate why (to see if the problem was some mistake on my setup or not), but the previous computer in the same place used to work well with my router. I expect this is due to some buggy driver from the motherboard CD, something that may improve in the future. 2) The software that comes with it to configure fans and other built in management features is comprehensive, but looks a bit heavy. My impression is that they invested so much in having a cool UI written in .NET's WPF that it got too heavy. You just need to open it and start hearing the fans speeding up. Not a problem to me, but some users may not like it. 3) There's no indication in the manual or the website, but this board DOES HAVE a TPM 2.0 chip, which will enable you to use Bitlocker on Windows, secure boot and login using a pin or other modern way (such as facial recognition) if you have such devices. It was a great surprise to find it... I was planning to buy a separate module, but it was built in. 4) Beware of fans: this board has only two slots/pins to plug fans. This is clearly stated on manual, but nobody reads that before buying. One for CPU, the other for the system. And that's it. My case had 4, but I had to let them off. You can, of course, use splitters or connectors to use them all if you want, but without individual configuration on BIOS and the software they ship. 5) There's only one led in the board. It's was not a problem to me until I experience problems... you don't have any manual, any instruction on the website... nothing to help you in case of failure. You'll have to a) dig into forums to understand their meaning or b) use your logic and do multiple tests to figure out what means three quick led signals (memory missing) or one quick (cpu missing) or none (12v power disconnected). 6) There's no information on manual or the website about how to use the dual bios feature. They just say this board has it. There are some tips in enthusiast forums (like holding reset and power while booting), and some people say that it works automatically after the first one fail, but none worked in my specific case. Maybe I would buy this board again in the future, after Gigabyte fix the secureboot thing with a BIOS update... after all, the board doesn't look that bad. But since I cant wait I think next time I'll go with another model or brand.

being a huge fan of gigabyte, this motherboard was kind of a let down. I know it's a mini ITX form factor but I have had problems with optane with the processors with the front panel jacks on individual cases. This motherboard has so many compatibility issues. I am familiar with a ga h270m ds3h motherboard as that is my personal favorite and that motherboard had no problems hooking up optane or any of the extra features but yeah this one has caused me nothing but problems. Also to keep in mind that's only has one channel of dim memory so you can only install up to 32 gigs of RAM even though the motherboard manufacturer says you can have 64 gigs and an i7 processor is capable of running 64 gigs. Who am I to complain? 32 gigs is a lot after all. What I recommend this motherboard? No. Would I personally use this motherboard? No.

Ordered one and loved it, it worked perfectly and great features. Ordered a second one and it was dead on arrival. not sure why but I returned it and amazon was fast to refund my money. boxed looked open and package was all messed up inside that might have been the problem.

This is the motherboard that's in the build I'm currently typing out this review on. I've had it built for a couple of weeks now and am thrilled with its performance so far. Very happy with this purchase.

Good motherboard for my first PC build (Mini ITX). I had some trouble with no signal in my display monitor and I've tried many solutions posted on different forums such as connecting the VGA/DVI/HDMI cable to the GPU or motherboard (spent 8+ hours researching). The only way I could get a display was to remove the GPU (GTX 1050 Ti) and connect the cable (in my case HDMI with a VGA adapter) to the motherboard input and switch the computer on. Without the GPU, I installed Windows 10. The solution that made it all work was forcing the startup to use integrated graphics. While I had a display with the GPU removed, I went into the BIOS menu and changed the startup so that the system initially would use IGFX (integrated graphics) instead of the GPU, and shut down. I plugged in my GPU into the motherboard while leaving the HDMI cable attached to the motherboard input. The system would then startup normally and you would see in Device Manager, under Display Adapters, an unrecognised video adapter. Everything was smooth sailing after I installed the NVIDIA drivers.

The MB comes with everything I need. My project starts from one OLD ACER AXC-605-ER30. I kept the case, the power supply, DVD writer/reader. I purchased this mother board, i7-7700 CPU，SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series M.2 2280 250GB SSD，and G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM. The MB works great for my application.

my usb ports quit on me but they still supply power to my keyboard and mouse but don't let me do anything, I've tried different keyboards and I've concluded it is a motherboard issue.
