Agent Carter: The Complete Second Season (Marvel)

Agent Carter Season 2 BD Regions A,B & C
I was most disappointed when the television series was cancelled. Though the both seasons are available online, I wanted Season 2 on disc. I had bought the Amazon special offer of Season 1. Though I acquired Season 2 at the premium cost, I am very pleased to now have the entire series as BD set. For the Season 2 BD set the video transfer quality is excellent. And the superb 5.1 sound quality takes away a bit of sting of the cost. The experience of viewing each episode, 10 total on two discs, is better than when I watched them aired on television. There are bonus extras on the second discs. The subtitles provided on the discs are accurate and well placed to not interfere with the image. The BD's appeared marked to play for Regions A, B & C. The second and only other audio language is German. The disc set is an ABC Studios production, Z1ABUY0267601.

Love the series and hope to meet the cowards who gave it the axe
Sometimes I just have to give on the audience. I just watched this again after a couple of years since it aired. Those who like this series are not going to be surprised that it's a cult classic because most of the best stuff is missed because men don't headline the cast and because women are routinely the sidekicks when given dominant roles at all. While everyone's going gaga for Wonder Woman I'll always see Agent Carter as the real superhero based woman who kicked in doors and punched guys out. She does it without powers. She does it because that's what she trained to do and is determined to the last person standing when it's done, or go down swinging. She does it to honestly endeavor to put the right people in prison and keep the nation safe.Los Angeles is not ready for Agent Carter but she proves she was ready for LA.This series has everything it needs to be smart, witty and driven with a purpose. We discover how and why she came to be Agent Carter instead just another clever girl backing up her husband. It's nice that it was a family thing. Peppered throughout the series are backstory moments where we see Peggy's intentions in life and why those intentions changed. We also get to see a love triangle that goes entirely unresolved thanks the ABC's not renewing the series. We see Peggy meet her match with a movie heroine who's more than a pretty face and how that woman is a threat to entire world. All I can say is thank goodness this was finally made available on BluRay, while still being beyond disappointed that the adventures of Agent Carter have been dropped unceremoniously from the the schedule.

Everything good about the first season is still here (which makes it a must watch), but even more good things have been dropped into this show. Though I have little patience for almost all of the other superhero related shows/movies, this one just gets it right. A dynamic female lead who makes things happen with her mind and physicality and not just her feminine wiles. Witty, tight writing. Developed supporting characters. It's both a highly entertaining action show as well as one of the best representations of females currently on TV. Peggy Carter might be played by the excellent, British actress Hayley Atwell, but she's an American icon.

Both better and worse than season 1.
Season 2 of “Agent Carter” ups the ante considerably from the first season. In 2 Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter finds herself in southern California fighting a cabal of powerful political and entertainment elites and a deadly darkforce energy that some can control from taking over the government. Carter is a little less self-assured this time around but she’s also more physically aggressive. She, a Caucasian Brit, strikes up a romance with an African American scientist and the two get along well and have some decent chemistry. This is supposed to be a shocking development in the series as it is set in the 1950s at which time this would cause lots of hairs on the backs of people’s necks to rise but…currently in our modern era this doesn’t cause much of a flinch. That’s in large part due to the fact that the series isolates the pair and doesn’t play up their romance dramatically by engaging other points of view. Instead the romance is there more to create a love triangle. Peggy’s former SSR associate Daniel Sousa (he with the walking crutch from S1) has been made Chief out in the L.A. branch and though he’s got a girl for himself as Peg never requited his feelings he’s still got them sensations for her. And so the three of them dance around each other while stiff upper lip Peggy tries to squelch the feelings that she has for Sousa. This all plays out pretty flatly. Where the series clicks most is when Agent Carter is directly engaging and out-maneuvering actress/ darkforce wielder Whitney Frost (a convincing and fetching Wynn Everett) and returning Red Room (as in potential Black Widow agent) renegade Dottie (Bridget Regan sporting a dark brunette ‘do changing her look radically). Edwin Jarvis and his wife who is put in mortal danger are also strong series characters…with Jarvis perhaps being the strongest and best delivered character.I am not a huge fan of “Agent Carter” and though both seasons 1 & 2 failed to impress me I do love the Marvel lore and would have been willing to give a Season 3 a check. I wouldn’t mind seeing Atwell return in the MCU as I think a narrower, tighter focus for her character and her arc would be more appealing but I’m satisfied with this series being closed out. 3.5 stars.

Region free???
Says this is region free, as most of the discs sold for season 2 will not play in North America because of the region setting. When I first put disc 1 in, my blu-ray player said it could not play the disc. I put disc 2 in, and it played just fine. At which point I tried to play disc 1 again. The disc caused my blu-ray players to freeze. I will add that my blu-ray player is an Xbox One X that is just over 1 month old. I have used the Blu-ray player on the Xbox to watch both blu-ray and 4k dvd's since I purchased it, and have had no issues. I had to remove the Blu-ray app, and reinstall it 3 times before it would finally view disc 1. I only played both discs long enough to make sure they would work. I will write a further review once I have viewed all the disc/episodes. Currently a 2 star rating, could improve based on total play back quality.

The best Marvel TV series
I just love this show. Great actors, script, characters and such an authentic feel for the forties. Can't believe ther'll be no more. And yet we're up to season 6 of 'Arrow'....

Really deserves its five stars. Clever, witty, intelligent, full of in-jokes and gentle pokes at its own genre. Post war Los Angeles in 194? You'll want to watch all ten episodes in one go. So, of course, the network cancelled it...

Marvelous
I have bought seasons one and two, Hayley Atwell is simply fantastic as Carter, these are set in a super time of style and dress fully complemented by the film sets. If you want to spend time in front of a screen then this is the way, the diabolical problem is Agent Carter was discontinued and I can not understand why???? First disc great but second disc does not play, have asked for a refund and ordered a replacement, tried it again now it works but not well, disc seems in perfect condition.

Excellent product and service
Excellent product and serviceMarvel’s most stylish tv series, Hayley Atwell is fantastic as Agent Peggy Carter, ex-girlfriend of Captain America, now fighting the forces of evil as the beginnings of SHIELD are formed around her. With Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Tony’s father, this is an excellent series, well written with lots of tonge-in-cheek humour. Highly recommend

Surprisingly good
Only purchased to complete a collection but was pleasantly surprised. This was for my wife but we watched together. Good old fashioned rip roaring action. Acting ridiculously hammy, but hey..... enjoyable nonetheless.
