Is this certified for potable water?

Can I remove the strainer so that I can feed a tube down through the wye to pump out the water in the pipe below for a camp winterization application?

Yes you should be able to do that.

What is the temperature range/rating is this strainer assembly rated for?

I drain and remove my assembly when temperatures are expected to be below freezing. It lengthens the life of the unit.

Does this come with rubber washers (like in a hose connection)? I see it is IPS not NPT so i assume it is meant to seal against a washer.

No rubber washers were included. You will need to wrap the connecting pipes/PVC with plumbers tape or some other sealer. On my 2nd year with this backflow and seems to be holding us just fine.

Quality fitting that saved money and time

Water utility replaced some mains in our service area. I installed wye strainer due past experience. Even with careful install and flushing, some small rocks / debris ends up in lines & ultimately at stops, faucets / fixtures, & appliances. Saved the hassle of clearing debris caught by strainer. was a good Investment
