Professional Quality
I bought this for my painter to use on the roof. I chose it for its apparent quality and was not disappointed. It got lots of use and worked excellently, according to him. Glad I got it. The roof looks great.

Great product
Had to fix a shingle on my roof which is incredibly steep. Was able to throw this on my extension ladder in 30 seconds, and run it up the house. I'm 6'4" 250 and no worries at all of this thing failing. Very solid construction would recommend if you are in need. As others said this is only 1 hook not 2 but I didn't need but 1 anyway.

These are heavy!
When these are at the end of a ladder the leaverage disadvantage you have makes it rather hard to work with. It is sturdily made, but was not formed properly to allow a solid installation on the ladder. It would slide on the ladder rung as pressure was put on on side and then the next. I rigged mine with some banding tape so it would not slide around.

Nice Product
This work good on regular cobblestone. The brackets, I recommend using 2, are not that great on metal roofs. The bracket is too wide to fit in between the ridges of your panels. Still a good tool

Poor fit to ladder
Very heavy and appears quite strong. Used on top of metal boat shed. Downside is that the clamp design (holds the hook to the ladder) is poorly designed/shaped and doesn't fit the rungs very well. Hook tends to side left and right very easily. I have D rungs on my ladder. As the clamp shape doesn't fit the rungs well, I duct taped the clamp in position to keep it centered while running it up to the shed's ridge. Suggestions: 1. Reshape the clamp to properly fit the rungs. 2. Coat the clamp in rubberized material to minimize slippage 3. Replace the single bolt and butterfly nut with two bolts and nylocks nut to keep the clamp from twisting. 4. Lengthen the bolt slot to allow for a tighter fit of the hook to the ladder.

Does not work over ridge vent
The hook is heavy duty, but it is just a little bit too small. The opening is about 8" only. My roof have a 12/12 pitch. The Ridge cap is about 6" and the vent is about 2" height, so when installed the hook will rest exactly on the opening of the ridge vent, but not on the shingles below it. It is not safe to use that way, because it not only could easily crush the ridge vent, but also is dangerous to put all the hooking force on the ridge vent alone which is the weakest part of the roof and could be pulled out easily by the force. The hook is very hard to install securely to the ladder without some kind of modification. It will slip a little no matter how you tighten the nut. I glued some black rubber to the fixing point and it stayed very securely after. It is very frustrating when trying to find a ladder hook to use on a ridge vent. All the ones selling in the US have similarly small hook and they are basically copies of each other. Only the UK sellers have those big hooks with wheels on the end. I suspect it is due to regulations and those type of hooks are not allowed to sell in US. But those are the kind of hooks one needs for roofs with ridge vent. If anyone in US can make a hook that is at least 10" for the opening, it would sell like hot cakes. Wonder why no body makes it.
