We will be happy to clarify that. Our portable heaters are not measured in the area they cover, but the BTUs they generate, as they are supplemental heaters. This unit will generate 5118 BTUs on high. This number, divided by the square footage of the area you are looking to heat, will let you know how much heat the heater can provide to the room. We will be happy to clarify this. If you set the unit to Continuous High or Continuous Low, the heater will run constantly. If you set the thermostat and leave the unit in Thermostat mode, then it will turn off once the area around the heater has reached the set temperature.
