This receiver is amazing! There are a lot of configuration resources.

Holy man this thing was expensive and I think I might be underutilizing it. It was easy to setup, connect, and the sound quality is excellent. If my wife finds out what I paid for it she will kill me, then I won't be able to pay off the second mortgage I needed to get in order to pay for the whole system. No lag, so many options, I am not sure what most of it does but even so, it sounds and looks so good and connects to everything in my system. It made my screen somehow better. I no longer have a cable box, eARC works amazing.

I bought this to replace a previous Yamaha receiver that was damaged when lightning ran through a TV it was connected to. This receiver has outstanding sound. I initially had some issues with the surround but was finally able to get it corrected by putting the mic a few feed in front of and between where we sit when doing the room analysis. The only negative is that it seems to have difficulty with the CEC commands sometimes, switching from one connected device to another when it shouldn't.

I bought this to replace an older Yamaha receiver that was a bit outdated. I had to wire the old one to workaround its limitations. I was kind of over it. So I purchased the RX A6A to replace it. I was looking for something that could produce Atmos signals without a workaround and could support 2 sub woofers; nowadays that's not hard to find. There's a catch with higher numbers of speakers, but I will get to that later. When I received the RX A6A I had done my prep work. I bought some height speakers for Atmos to go with my ceiling mounted overhead speakers and installed them on the front wall. The wiring was pretty simple. I lifted my old receiver and placed the new one underneath so all I had to do was switch the wires from the old to the new then connect the new speakers. With any new receiver connecting existing speakers isn't as big a deal as configuring them and getting the levels correct. The YPAO mic is extremely helpful. I was surprised to learn that the new receiver had an additional set of sound tests to determine height and angle of the main speakers. It took a little longer than the old receiver. I read somewhere that it was a good idea to measure with multiple listening positions. So instead of just one for me and one for my wife, I measured at 6 additional locations to create a "sweetspot". Word to the wise: do the extra measurements; it's worth it. If you're like me you will test out your new receiver with some good sounding movies. I've used several 4k movies that were encoded with Dolby Atmos. My first choice was the original Top Gun. Let me tell you, it sent chills down my back it sounded so good. Honestly, I've had this for a couple months now and I am still watching movies to push this thing to its limits. So far, everything has sounded great! The surround AI setting works great on older TV shows and movies. It places the sound perfectly in the room as if it was originally encoded for surround sound. I was impressed. There are few things I haven't been thrilled about. One of the reasons I bought this receiver is because it has plenty of 4k (8k) HDMI inputs. My TV supports 4k 120Hz refresh rate, but it is limited to 2 inputs; one of which is the EARC HDMI. My old receiver didn't support 120Hz. This left me with 1 HDMI port that I had to connect a switch box to in order to switch between my Xbox Series X and my PS5. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was another workaround. Out of the box, the new receiver does not support 120Hz. It requires a firmware update. No big deal. You have 2 options: download it directly to the receiver or download it manually to a thumdrive and update it using the drive. It would not download it directly. I have no idea why, but it would not allow me to download it. I couldn't find anything in the manual that would remedy the situation so I downloaded it to a thumbdrive. It took a couple of tries to get the right files extracted, but I eventually got it and was able to update the firmware. There has been another firmware update that downloaded automatically and installed perfectly. I guess it was just that initial update. The biggest complaint I have are issues with the Xbox Series X. There are handshake issues that makes it hit or miss whether the Xbox will work with the receiver each time you try to use it. It got so bad I finally had to use that one 120Hz 4k HDMI input on my TV and the sound runs from the TV to the receiver. There are some issues with the Xbox recognizing the Dolby Atmos capabilities with the TV and the receiver. I think that is more the Xbox than the receiver or the TV. The thing is, if I could connect the Xbox directly to the receiver, it wouldn't be an issue. Every once in a while the PS5 takes a while to connect to the receiver, but a little patience goes a long way. :-) It does work and it doesn't usually take THAT long to start working. The other thing I wasn't crazy about was having to use an external receiver to power the overhead Atmos speakers. I had an even older receiver than the one I was replacing that came in handy. It's also a Yamaha so it works pretty well. I was just really hoping to have everything running from the one receiver. I had to reprogram the old remote so it would only control the old receiver, but that was just a few setting changes. The one thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to use the trigger out on the new receiver to the trigger in on the old receiver. I bought a cable that was supposedly specifically made for this, but I haven't gotten the settings right to use this. Finally, I know this review is like a short story, but all in all, I really like this receiver. It's not cheap for someone like me, but I had had enough and wanted to make an upgrade. I finally took the plunge and it has been worth it. After the YPAO measurements, I have still made some tweaks to the levels to make it sound better in the room. If you decide to get this, or any receiver, you have to give it some time and get it to sound right in your particular room. Do yourself a favor and do some research on the best settings and techniques to get the most out of your receiver. If you're going spend this kind of money make sure you know what you're doing and how to get the best out of your new purchase. It's a lot of trial and error. I'm no expert, but I have been setting these up for close to 20 years now (I even installed them from time to time in other people's houses to make a little extra money). I hope this review helps. I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting premium sound for less than a premium price.

Awesome features and tremendous MusicCast app to link and control these Yamaha units. We have a V681 Master unit with this A6A and a V6A as slave units to the V681. MusicCast ties them all together. Takes time to setup since Yamahas have so many possible adjustments. But these many possibilities make them highly customisable. Tremendous power in this A6A unit

The Yamaha RX-A6A I received on July 15th started audio crackle, then audio drop out issues 19 days later. The audio issue was with HDMI sources, as well as the Yamaha's internal internet radio feature. Manually power cycling the devices in the signal chain in a cold start fashion resulted in a brief reprieve, but then continuing with the brief crackle sound an the audio dropouts. My AV components ar e plugged into regulated power sources, and the unit resides in a cool ventilated area. Even though I bought the unit in 2025, the patch version before updates was from 2022. I don't know if this suffered from sitting in a hot warehouse for a while, or if the seller not double boxing the shipment caused it excessive shock during delivery. I was loving the features of the Yamaha, until it stated failing.

Real good Yamaha receiver, good for the 9.2 until 11.2 if you use one amplifier

The RX A6A i a Very solid and Heavy receiver. Mine showed up in a box that was a little beat up but did not have signs of ever being opened. Must have been in stock for a few years. I did need to upgrade the firmware with a USB. Doing it from the Web interface would not work. I'm not crazy about the small display on the front, it does not give you as much info at a glance as the older RX-A1050 which I still have. The sound from this thing is what I expect from Yamaha. I wanted the A6A for the power since my main speakers are my Subs with 15Inch drivers. So many ways to configure this thing it can be a challenge, but I like having all the features.

En diciembre de este año cumplo dos años con el equipo, la verdad no lo uso tanto al mes, serán 5 o 8 veces, todo iba bien hasta que empezó a fallar, se protege y tengo que reiniciar, el problema es que ya me aparecen varios fallos, las nomenclaturas son DC PRT 024, 023 Y 021, al parecer son algunos componentes internos, tendré que llevarlo a reparar a Yamaha, veremos cuanto tiempo tardan en entregármelo.
