Color:Black The Blow-Off valve (BOV) is a pressure relief device on the intake tract to prevent the turbo's compressor from going into surge. When the throttle is closed rapidly, the airflow is quickly reduced, causing flow instability and pressure fluctuations. Surge can eventually lead to thrust bearing failure due to the high loads associated with it. Blow-Off valves use a combination of manifold pressure signal and spring force to detect when the throttle is closed. When the throttle is closed rapidly, the BOV vents boost in the intake tract to atmosphere to relieve the pressure, helping to eliminate surge. As many others have stated, this thing is completely useless as shipped. The spring inside is FAR too heavy. No amount of vacuum/pressure combination could ever even begin to open the valve.

Cheap seal looks cool
The BOV looked nice and all that but does not function properly. It has a bad seal and the spring was way to heavy for my 10 lbs of boost

Great for the price
Seems to be built well enough. The spring that comes installed is way too tight, and my car pulls 23 inches of vacuum. Still wasn't blowing off properly, had to install a lighter spring.The aluminum flange had some sort of plating or something, which made it incredibly difficult to weld. Almost as though the people manufacturing it didn't know it would need to be welded later. I've seen this before with cheap knock offs of brand name weldable parts. Overall a minor inconvenience.The piston and diaphragm seem well made, I did do some de-burring of sharp edges that the brand name version doesn't require.This is 1/8th the price of the brand name one, so I'm willing to put up with those issues.

Welded up ok, valve runs smoothly but the spring is way to heavy.

This sure doesn't appear to be a black blow off valve. Is a nice pink 44mm waste gate!!!
